Dawn Bennett: Dallas Cowboys Lawsuit 'Should Never Have Been Filed'

The Dallas Cowboys filed a lawsuit seeking $7.3 million in damages from Dawn Bennett, the CEO and founder of Bennett Group Financial Services, for allegedly not paying a $500,000 annual lease fee for her end-zone suite at AT&T Stadium. Bennett told WealthManagement.com that the lawsuit was a mistake.

“I’m told that the Dallas Cowboys are putting together a retraction and the suit should never have been filed,” a spokesman for Bennett said, but didn't give further details.

When asked, the Dallas Cowboys were unable to confirm or deny Bennett’s statement.

Bennett has been a frequent contributor to WealthManagement.com in the past, and was named by REP. as one of its Rookies of the Year in 1989.

According to Dallas news sources, Bennett paid her suite agreement in full for the first five years of a 20-year term, including a $50,000 security deposit in 2007 and the full $500,000 lease fee each year until 2012. The Cowboys are seeking the unpaid lease fees as well as the total of the lease payments remaining on the suit agreement.
