Advisors on the Move: Trading Places

  • Merrill Lynch picked up two-person team on Thursday with more than $400 million in client assets. Michael Bromberg and Daniel Gerschel joined Merrill’s Rockefeller center complex from Morgan Stanley.

 

  • UBS also snagged a team of advisors on Thursday coming over from Merrill Lynch.  Senior vice president Mark Grueninger, wealth strategist Ben Sauer and client services associate Mariam Aziz joined the firm’s Beverly Hills office. Grueninger—who started as a trainee with the firm 14 years ago—and his team have $2.7 million in client assets and focus on retirement planning and family trusts.

 

  • Raymond James & Associates bolstered its ranks on Thursday with a husband and wife team from Morgan Stanley with $225 million in AUM. Peter Walsh and Lisa Walsh are set to open Raymond James’ first branch in Buffalo, N.Y., along with senior registered financial planning assistant Jennifer York and client service associate Kasandra Crosby.

 

  • Irvine, Calif.-based Burnham Gibson Financial Group is expanding again. Just six months after the firm joined forces to create a presence in Northern California’s San Rafael, the firm announced Wednesday it’s opening a new office in Scottsdale, Ariz. Nate Carlon, who a financial consultant currently based in the Orange County office, will lead the expansion efforts.

 

  • Managing director of Merrill Lynch Wealth Management, Racquel Oden, is expanding her reach, taking over the firm’s iconic training program from Dwight Mathis. As head of new advisor development, Oden will be working to further implement Merrill’s goals based training. In addition to her new responsibilities, she will still also oversee field management and continue to work with advisors.

 

  • National Advisors Trust, which provides trust and custody to 150 RIAs across the country, revamped its management team last week. John Sullivan was appointed as chief financial officer and John Abbuhl was named to the new position of chief client officer. Vice President Colleen Berry, who joined the firm in August, will oversee the newly created position of Director of Product Management.
