Comings & Goings: August 2011

The Investment Program Association, an advocacy group for direct investing, has hired David Maccarella as director of education. Maccarella was previously with Thomson Reuters, developing online client training courses in the financial services division.

Robert Batick Jr. has joined Westport Capital Markets, an independent broker/dealer in Westport, Conn., as a financial advisor in the company's new Guilford, Conn. branch. Batick joins from RBC Capital Markets.

Steve Dorsey has left Thomson Reuters' retail wealth management sales for Advisor Software, Inc., a provider of wealth management software. At ASI, Dorsey will serve as vice president of sales, overseeing enterprise sales as well as advisor and broker/dealer sales.

The Institute for Private Investors, a member organization for ultra high-net-worth investors, has tapped Kathleen McBride as its new director. Most recently, McBride was wealth editor-in-chief at AdvisorOne, although she began her career as a broker, bond trader and then an investment advisor.
