Bye Bye to EJ!

Tomorrow will make it a week since I resigned to join an LPL company. The recruiter warned me to “not get my feelings hurt” by what the Jones TR might say, or even influence my old staff to say once I left, but boy howdy!
You do learn alot about a company when you leave! How Edward Jones really thinks they can claim all clients, even clients I brought with me from my old firm, is beyond me. But then, why the surprise? Jones is still in the 1980s... To be fair, I was there 8 years, and learned alot of useful things about running my own business. I thank EJ for that. I made a couple of fine friends, too. Now, I am free to do business the way I see fit, with no built in conflicts of interest with my clients. Onward and upward!!Congratulations, it gets better from here and over time you will detoxify completely. It takes about a full year to get all of the kool aid out of your system.
So, Jones fired you, huh? Too bad.
Just kidding. Good luck with your indy life. I hear it's a great new world.Nice Spiff, you say just kidding, but you aren’t. That is why your nephew Wind and a majority of other EJ stiffs bash people who leave as failures or they were fired. 2 guys in my old region, both Seg 5’s with 75mil AUM left to form their own partnership and the RL thinks they made a mistake because the numbers just don’t work out. LOL!!!
Hey, easy there Mr. Banker. You’ll find that I’m not one of those “you’re a loser if you go indy” kind of guys. This industry has all kinds of options. Indy is one of them. Unlike a lot of you that have left EDJ to go elsewhere and harbor some sort of misplaced resentment, I don’t have a problem with guys who leave because they believe they have found a better way to do things for themselves. Effay has evidently been in the industry long enough to figure out that he wants to do things a bit differently than he used to. Good for him.
Now, if Effay comes back on here in a few weeks spouting anti-Jones rhetoric then we'll talk. Until then, get the corncob out of your butt and take my comment for what it was. What did Wind have to do with anything in this thread? At this rate on this board you might be able to peg the Lincoln assassination on Wind…
Congratulations and good luck, effay. I expect to see less of you here over the next few weeks/months since now is when your business is made. I took the logical next step today and closed on my own office building. Next, I will be shopping for at least one advisor to share my space. My prediction…you’ll enjoy life as an indy. Just call me Captain Obvious…
Spiff it is your smug commentary like, "So Jones fired you, huh?" and "Mr. Banker" that invites the commentary.

[/quote] Or...you just don't get my sense of humor or stinging sarcasm, you woke up on the wrong side of the bed, some client ACAT'd an account from you this morning, or you stepped in dog poop on the way to your car this morning and your office smells. Smug commentary? Really? A guy can't make a joke on here without it being commentary? And smug no less. Oh yeah, the Mr. Banker comment comes only after your comments to me. You want to play that way, I'm more than willing. You give up what? You started this line of the thread. I made an innocent joke and you got bent out of shape, then brought Wind into the thread for some reason. So, you’re going to start the fight, get beat up on, and then pretend like it was me or Wind that started it and that you’re the victim? That’s weak and everyone knows it. On my playground back home the farm boys would have beat the crap out of you for that and called you a sissy.
Children, why don’t you all just get a friggin life and get back to work…maybe someday you will make it out of seg 3.
Whoever went indy...congrats. Smartest move you could ever make in your career. I know I changed 3 years ago next month.
