Hello all.  Great site here.  Searched google for awhile till I landed here and this site pefect for good knowledge.  I just registered (for this site) but upon my first post attempt in another forum It said I do not have permisson to post in that forum but I am allowed to post here.  That seems odd. Is that correct that I  Am allowed to post only in certain forums?

Qeustions I have is to national 66 and 7 first time pass rates

Thanks for any help

Hey Jimmy, you landed in a pubic place, it is the premier professional financial advisor forum on the internet. A lot of experienced advisors read and post here.

The forum provides a lot of freedom, always a good thing when you are talking about money,  and sometimes folks abuse that freedom, so the admin has been helping sort us sort out these problems by segregating areas to protect the quality of content.

I believe you need 50 posts to have full access. Good luck.

This statement should be under the "Weekend Joke" thread

When I took mine.. The average pass rate was 67% and of those that passed the average score was only a 73.. <- that was for the Series 7. Have to ask someone else about the 66.. Don't know that answer.

Welcome by the way.

The 67% is for everyone taking the test, as the recently departed DaToo/DATwo/Putsy pointed out first time pass rates are about half that.  You can do a forum search and find out.

The reason that the entire forum is not open to new posters is because the site has been and still is infested with trolls who are not in the business, gave out bogus advice and who continually take every thread off topic.

Everytime they were banned by the administrator who FINALLY showed up, they would return under new screen names like....oh.....say,.....bambee for instance.  So, to stop the infestation a new poster needs to be persistant and rack up 50 posts.  Usually the trolls are outed before they get 50 posts...bambee.... and have to start all over again.  In the meantime, many of us regular posters (I'm posting as a newbie because I retired my main posting name) have migrated to another forum and check back here periodically.

That being said:   when I took the 7 the pass rate was about 60%. The 66. don't know.  You also need to pass the 63.

Good luck.  Study hard.

Got it about the 50 posts. Thanks.

Was goin to ask in rookies forum but Forum wont let me so I ask here.  Already searched and could not find the awnser to first time pass rate.

I thought the 7 was around 30% or 40 % first time.  I just passed the 7 and my pass paper said around 67% pass rate but as mentioned earlier that includeds 2nd and 3rd attempties as well.

Reason I ask is I also just passed the 66 and it was very very hard in my opinon.  7 was much easier for me however I did study more for the 7 but even without the extra study for me the 7 was just much more cut and dry approached.  You either knew it or didn't.  No real subjectivity to it but the  66 sometimes had 3 or 4 correct answers for one single question with real struggling to narrow it down to the best correct one i thought.  Many tricky and intensionally written tricky questions to.  Many questions were even hard to understand what was being asked to begin with.

I'm guessing the 66 has a lower or at  least an equall fail rate than 7 but I could not find any info anywhere on the net or here

Had I put an effort into it, which I wasn't going to, I would have scored higher.

Atta boy, Ferris, bright fellow.

Sep 18, 2007 8:47 pm

Ferris, I only got an 80 does that make me 'Slow'.  I felt pretty good when I pass and found out I scored that high but now I don't feel so smart.. Big different between 92 and 80! Thanks!

16. Yeah, Ms. Jones, like his ego needs the attention. :). Some take a lower score on the seven as a sign of smarts, so you are still in the running.

Sep 18, 2007 9:04 pm

Thanks Bambee… So what do you know about Ferris… (Other than him taking the day off.) Big head huh? He must be pretty smart… 92… Wow, that seems on the high side…

Sep 18, 2007 9:10 pm

From what little I know of him, mainly his tracks in this forum and the legend of his accomplishment in greener pastures, I am certain that he might be a very, very bright fellow.

Rumor has it he runs a brilliant but directly competing web site with a partner who is very small but tenacious, if you get my meaning.

For Jimmy:

I pulled my old score sheet for the Series 7. I scored a 91%  National average score was 75% and National percentage passing was 71% .... more than I remembered.

Study the hell out of options, derivities and margin accounts.

Could Miss Jones and Bobby please get a room.  Preferably one with no windows.

The 7 isn’t all that tough.  If you graduated college, then you can pass it.

Hello DATwo. Your arrogance gives you away as always.

Sorry Reggie.  Definitely not DAtwo or any of his past incarnations.

Do not pass go, do not collect $200.

I would agree that the 66 can be more confusing than the 7.  I didn't think the 7 was that bad; I just did what I was told and focused heavily on muni's and options.  Ended up getting a 93%; I thought I was pretty smart until a few months later another new guy made a 95 and a couple of months after that someone made a 94.  But in my training program, we were given 8 weeks to study for the 7.  If you can't pass after studying for 8 weeks, you really need to reconsider your career choice.  I think many of the failures are going to be people who sign up with say Ameriprise or Waddell where they make you study at home on your own time while keeping your previous job.  But if your entire day at work is comprised of studying for the 7, it's hard to fail.

On the 66, I didn't think it was necessarily harder, just not as straightforward.  I ended up making a pretty low score of 81 on that one.  I did somewhat better on the 31, got an 89 on that.
