The ultimate result of this? Maybe a reduced pay-out with a minimal salary.

If I wanted base pay with lots of time off, minimal work for which I had to produce no positive results, I would have become a teacher.

"The greater impact could come on the question of who pays for expenses. California, like most states, says the employer must bear the cost of doing business, according to Paetkau"

This could have huge implications for Edward Jones brokers also, who now have to pay for many office and operating expenses out of their own pocket. (Utilities, Advetising, Copy machine, Fax Machine, Paper, Pens, Etc.)   EDJ people are W-2 scheduled. I expect that this whole issue is null for independents.

The overtime rules for brokers are ridiculous.  The whole advantage of being in this industry is that you can work the hours you want, as many or as few.

Absolutely rediculous!!!!

A text book example of a lawyer looking for an issue to exploit for their own good. Is it more likely that a stockbroker felt slighted they were not getting OT, or that an attorney needed to find some business and stumbled upon this obscure California law, and ran with it.

Isn't that essential the job description of a military officer?

Perhaps among the dregs of the military.  I have no experience there, so I must yield to your experience on the subject of bottom tier military matters.  For that matter, I yield to your experience in bottom tier everything.  It is clearly your milieu.

That is the most verbose "yes" I have read in a long time.

You seem to be a bitter little person, menotellname, particularly regarding the service.  Why did the Navy discard you?

I was going to ask you the same question.

As long as I have pikers like you to point to and laugh, I’ll never be bitter.

Meno, I'm about done having fun showing you up.  One last thought before I dismiss you.  Never think that you're inferior because you're black.  You're inferior because of YOU, and you'd be inferior no matter what your race.

That is all.  You may slither away.

Never have you "shown me up".  You are a laughable example of the American military.  You are a common example of an uncommon fool.

Joe,

Have you ever known a broker that wasn't arrogant?  How could a broker ever survive without being arrogant?  Would you suggest humility?

Anyway, I was watching "American Dad" this weekend.  Laughing and thinking "that must be Starka's animated alter ego".

I think the difference between arrogant and unhappy is a fine line. When someone has nothing better to do then try to get rise out of people in a chat room one has to question how unhappy they are.

Maybe you are going through some serious issues? Family matters? Gay lover left you? Child disowned you? Mother stated "not a child of mine" or you have nothing, but money.

I'm not the one posting useless diatribes about Citybank (sic) and trying to get some grassroots support for border enforcement.

I believe that Joe had made a reference previously to something about "a toothpick", "a 2 by 4", and "an eye".  You might want to find some sort of reference in some sort of religious tome to center yourself...Mr. Erp...er...executivejock.

You might also want to get licensed in the process.

I guess I will wait for your rebuttal in which you call me self-righteous...*yawn*
