Edit Letter Jan. 2011: Welcome a New VP of Financial Services

As we celebrate our 35th year of publishing in 2011, I thought it might be beneficial to introduce William O'Conor, who takes the helm of our financial services group.

As we celebrate our 35th year of publishing in 2011, I thought it might be beneficial to introduce William O'Conor, who takes the helm of our financial services group. Bill has spent over 20 years in the financial services industry, recently running the Wealth Management group at Dow Jones, after a stint at social media firm Generate and multiple years at ThomsonReuters. I am turning over this month's editor's note to Bill.

I wanted to introduce myself to the readers of Registered Rep. as the new vice president, financial services group overseeing Registered Rep., Trusts & Estates, and several of Penton's Commercial Real Estate assets to share with you my plans. I will be working with our Publisher, Rich Santos, and Editor-in-Chief, David Geracioti, to continue to deliver the highest quality digital and print insight augmented with new services relevant to all segments of the Wealth Management market.

One of my goals is to extend Penton's Wealth Management Group and Registered Rep. to be a “daily digital must visit” with data, software, and research services to support workflow activities such as prospecting, planning, and client management. Linking our community of readers with our subject matter experts for improved practice management and client communication in a compliant manner is also on the drawing board. Access to these new services will be via our websites, mobile, third-party partners, and supported by our print publications.

With our recent investment in Meridian-IQ AIQ, we have exclusive access to bios and data on over 2 million wealth management professionals covering the full market spectrum (wirehouses, RIAs, IBDs, insurance, trust officers, tax attorneys, and CPAs). Please look for new data tables and insight on movement, investing trends, and industry sentiment leveraging this content in February. For your internal needs, this exclusive content can be used for market research on brand and trends conducted by our professional staff, or to improve your marketing outreach programs.

Registered Rep. and Trust & Estates are leaders in the provision of valuable insight into the Wealth Management industry. I look forward to contributing to its future growth and welcome your feedback on our direction at william. [email protected].

William C. O'Conor
Vice President, Financial Services Group
