As the founder of Cohn Financial Group, Mike Cohn, a well-respected industry authority and author, is the firm's Managing Director. He is a Chartered Life Underwriter® (CLU®) and has attained the designation of Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC®) from The American College of Financial Services. He also holds his Series 7 and 66 securities licenses and his Arizona Life and Health Insurance license. Mike is a registered representative of M Holdings Securities Inc., a member of FINRA, the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, SIPC, the Securities Investor Protection Corporation, and a registered Broker/Dealer.

Mike describes the Cohn Financial Group staff as, "A smart, experienced, and dedicated team that focuses on problem solving, exceeding our client’s and their advisor’s expectations, and delivering timely solutions and services."

A frequent speaker on complex life insurance arrangements, including planning applications of private placement life insurance with family offices and law firms, Mike has spoken at the University of Miami Law School – Heckerling Tax Institute, and Southern California Tax & Estate Planning Forum. He has authored two books on succession planning, Keep or Sell Your Business: How to Make the Decision Every Private Company Faces and Passing the Torch: Succession, Retirement and Estate Planning in Family-Owned Businesses. Plus, he has written articles on domestic private life insurance and what trustees should know (and do).

Mike holds a Master of Arts in Humanistic Psychology from the University of West Georgia and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Colorado. He is a member of the Editorial Review Board for Trusts & Estates magazine and serves on the Boards of Phoenix Art Museum and Free Arts for Abused Children of Arizona.
