I’m interviewing with NWM and I’m excited about the opportunity. However, coming from commodities I can’t help but wonder how things will differ in terms of excitement. Sales is sales and the excitement of landing a big deal is there, but the day to day trading and following the markets that I do as a retail commodities broker would (it seems) disappear. I know that as a Financial Advisor I can and will sell investments, but I don’t imagine that it will be the same.

How much excitement do you guys have in your day to day work as FAs? When the market makes a big move, how does it affect your (long term) investments?

Changes in the market will lead to almost no excitement.  The excitement needs to come from the thrill of the chase of getting new clients.
