Was a Financial Advisor for three years in the early 90's w/ Merrill. Contemplating a return as a fee only advisor. Where should I start? Edward Jones is hiring and have heard that Raymond James focuses on independents. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

2ndLap,

If as you said you are contemplating a return as a Fee Only Advisors, you might wish to consider either:

A) Establishing your own RIA Firm

B) Joining an Existing RIA Firm as an Investment Advisor Representative (IAR).

There are of course pro's/con's of each (including the decision to go with a more traditional broker-dealer).  Factors might include:

1. Ownership of client accounts

2. Payout Rate

3. Technology

4. Compliance

I would be happy to speak with you on this subject.  Whatever model you choose, best wishes to your success!
