The estate tax exclusion—the amount of the gross estate free of any tax payment1—has increased to $5.12 million per person during 2012 and is scheduled to decline to $1 million in 2013.2 
 
I don’t believe there’s any way to predict what Congress can or will do by the end of 2012. We didn’t believe that Congress would sit on its laurels (or hindquarters, as the case may be) and do nothing at the end
