Three-Generation Firm Joining LPL

A $350 million investment advisory firm is joining LPL, lured by the broker/dealer’s self-clearing capabilities.

A $360 million investment advisory firm is joining LPL, the broker/dealer announced Friday.

Sackman & Son Financial Services was founded in the early 1990s by Lee Sackman and his son Gary, and grew its client base around Waukegan, Ill. Lee Sackman has spent close to five decades in the financial services space before retirement. His grandson, Daniel Sackman, has joined the three generation family-run firm.

Also at Sackman & Son are advisors Gary McBride and James Barnes.

The firm has joined LPL’s b/d platform as well as its corporate registered investment advisory platform, LPL said. “LPL’s self-clearing capabilities were a huge factor in our decision to change firms,” said Daniel Sackman. “We are excited to be able to take advantage of the time and cost savings from those capabilities and believe it will enable us to deliver better service and more value to our clients. We look forward to utilizing LPL’s size and scale to help us grow our business.”

At the end of July, LPL had $669 billion in total assets, $370 on the brokerage platform and $299 in advisory, a 1.5 percent increase from the previous month.
