Hello,

My name is James and I am new to the community. I am 21
years old and I need to learn a lot about playing the stock market. I
am a very positive person. I became a mortgage broker at the age of 18
years old and I was unable to make big money due to this economical
melt down. But I do not give up.

I currently live in Fort
Lauderdale FL and I am dying to have a successful mentor to teach me
the ropes and help me out with the stock market. I will do anything it
takes to make tons of money. Please help me out. Message me and let me
know. My e-mail is [email protected]

Thank you.

If you have been a mortgage broker since 18 it is probably same to assume to did not get your college degree.  I would suggest enrolling at a local college and major in Finance.  You may be able to find a professor or two willing to take you under their wing and teach you a few things.  Nothing worth doing in life comes easy.  You have to build a base of knowlege before you can dive in and have success.  If making a ton of money in the stock market out of nothing were easy, we all would be doing it instead of working.  Truth is, if you can find a way to save a little of your paycheck a month and invest it and get a 10% return at your age you are doing pretty good.  But you need a paycheck first, which is why someone recommend you work at Edward Jones.  Working as a financial advisor is probably the best way for a young guy to learn the markets and maybe make a few bucks.

I never like to talk smack but are you serious? The name of this forum is Registered Rep, meaning most guys in the business or aspiring to be in the business.  You’re on the wrong site my friend.  You’re not going to find a mentor here.

Wow I am asking a simple question hoping people will be friendly enough to help me out.  No need to be calling me a f***ing idiot and a moron.  With all your negativity you all will fail in the stock market.  You sound like you all got picked on and beat up in high school and are now picking on someone whos not very familiar with stocks.

However I have been doing most of the right things and saving my paychecks and investing into the stock market with it.  I only got lucky with aig as i bought in back in March when it was around 3 dollars and selling half my shares at 45 dollars.  Other than that my portfolio is all over the place.

Thank you for at lease your advice LA Broker I wish for you to live a very prosperous life.

Two things. most of the cool kids go to college now.. yeah it sounds dumb, but we enjoy making money doing something we are good at and appreciate the training.   Second of all, you know AIG had like 1:20 reverse split or something like that, now I dont follow the stock, but if you sold at 45 doesn't that mean you bought at $3 at sold at $2.25.. i might be wrong since I don't follow gov't owned companies.
Yup.  None of us will make it.  Good call.

You are right, we don’t HAVE to tell you that you’re a moron.  But you ARE a moron, so I figured I’d just go ahead and point it out for you.  You know, so you don’t have to wonder whether you are or not.

Hey, look at the bright side…if the whole day trading thing doesn’t work out for you, you can always go back to being a mortgage broker (that’s actually probably only smart enough, and qualified for, asking “would you like fries with that?”)…you can always make it your goal to doing your part in collapsing the world’s financial system…again.  Thanks by the way.
Im not gonna stoop to your childish level.  If you understand anything in finance then you would know that the banks themselves + democrats + government owned Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac caused the crash of the mortgage market.  They are the ones that created the loan programs and paid brokers millions to sell them.  You have no one to blame but yourself.

Go ahead and be a pissed off person cause you lost your whole whopping 1000 dollars in life savings.

All I ask for is a mentor to help me out with the stock market and you all run in and bash me for no f***ing reason.

Wrong. If you understood anything about finance you would understand that:   a) Banks didn't "cause" the crash. They are in the business of making money, and causing a global financial crisis wouldn't really be the most effective way to do that. b) Democrats don't usually make enough money to cause a financial crisis. c) Fannie and Freddie didn't cause people to over-leverage themselves. Stupid college kids who take out credit cards without a job do. d) Banks and brokerage firms are not the same thing. e) You are a moron and a liar. AIG didn't trade at $3 in March.

LA Broker:

I would suggest enrolling at a local college and major in Finance.  You may be able to find a professor or two willing to take you under their wing and teach you a few things.

Then get a job cleaning the floors, and at night, sneak into the math wing, and complete all the complex problems written out on the board.  Make sure that when you get arrested for beating up some irish kid on the basketball court that you pick a widowed psychologist to spill your guts too.  You will teach him things, he will teach you things. And for the love of God tell Ben Affleck I said "Whats up."   This kid is a total chode.

Wow!  Thanks for the chuckle.

James, will you do me a favor?  When you don’t find a successful mentor will you call me and let me know that you have fulfilled your promise of dying?
