What we witnessed yesterday was the violent death of the Repubican Party.

To paraphrase Mark Twain, "the reports of my death are greatly exagerated."   The Chosen One won, BG, but don't overdo it.  A popular vote of roughly 52% is barely a majority, and hardly supports your exaggerated claims that the Republicans are a "dead sect."
What we witnessed yesterday was the violent death of the Repubican Party. They had, more, or less, been painting themselves into a corner for some time now. From here,  they will eat their own for a time as the death throws continue. What will hopefully emerge is a true conservative party. To move forward they have to quit being the party of angry white men and make peace with a nation that is multi-cultural, and diverse in lifestyles and values. They need to stop alienating anyone with a college degree who is also cosmopolitan with the elitist title. They have to stop being the enemy of enviromental protection and face up to climate change. If it does that and cultivates a truly conservative ideology, instead of a divisive one, they will come back. Failing that they are a dead sect, regardless of how badly Obama screws up. Obama’s election wasn’t a win, it was a mandate. If the republican party fails to get that message, there is no future for them. Mccain said it best “The people have spoken.” Yes they have. Now the real work for the republican party begins.

And just to for fun- Sarah is still hot!
ROFLMAO, thanks for the humor. I see you're not much of a student of history in addition to being someone who tosses around insinuations of racism with abandon. A brief history lesson;   LBJ, beat Goldwater like a rented mule..... couldn't even run for the nomination of his own party after a single term.   Nixon, won in a landslide (popular vote and EC) that makes Obama's pale by comparison.... his resignation "doomed" his party forever (so the critics of the time told us)   Carter (pay particularly close attention here, since we just elected his clone), won big, provided a "fresh start", promised to never lie to us......led the US so far off into a ditch in every area of presidential authority that he opened the door to Reagan, just a term and change after Nixon "destroyed" the GOP.   You really don't want to see the GOP "become a true conservative party", you'd loath them no matter what they do to reform. Your Daily Kos language makes that clear.   I suggest you not puff that chest out too far and watch closely as most of us the just saw our guy lose so you how to behave with good graces after a lost and how to be the loyal, ass opposed to the hysterical opposition. Obama's promised everything up to and including government issued unicorns that poop Iphones. The fall from such lofty heights of expectations, combined with the cultish following of so many of his supporters will be a hard one.

I'll tell you the same thing I told the other poster on that other thread. After the last eight years of rabid, vicious, absolutely insane criticism of Bush (which you also applied to McCain as recently as 24 hours ago) you're in no position to call for good behavior from the losing side. I went after Put because of his tone, but frankly, he sounded just like your (and BG) usual blather, so I suggest you put a sock in it yourself.  Make no mistake, you have zero room to open your mouth on the subject.<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

If it wasn't detrimental to the country I love, I’d spend the next four years treating Obama in exactly the same fashion you and yours treated Bush, McCain and most every other Republican in my lifetime. The vile, dishonest and borderline psychotic discourse route has been the common one taken by those on your side. I only disapprove of it because of love of country, and frankly, because I’m a better person than you.

Death?  As in never coming back, ever?  I think it's more accurate to say "What we witnessed yesterday was a dark day for the Republican Party.  Neither party will ever die, but like the market, there will be up and down cycles of varying lengths.

I hate to say this, but I would like to see us plunge into a depression when he starts these socialist programs.  See how his supporters like drawing their 124$ a week unemployment checks, food lines and crime out of this world.  If you don’t have a gun, buy one. If you have one, load it, You will need to protect your family in the coming years.

In parting, I'm not sure whether the coming years will be as bad as some of you are predicting, although my outlook certainly isn't peachy.  However, Obama won - when he takes office, he will (as McCain said) be my president.  I hope I'm wrong.  I hope most of you are wrong.  I hope he does well, and does right.  If he does, I will vote for him in 4 years.  If he doesn't, well, you know (and I hope America does too).
In an effort to do nothing but confuse people, I will start talking like Yogi Berra.   I don't know whether the next four years will be good or bad, but I am quite sure that they will happen.

C'mon now. 2 Presidents have presided over a negative return in the S&P since 1953,  Nixon and Bush. You are a going to call a 1 day selloff as an indictment on the election??? I personally would call going from 14,000 to 7800 on the Dow an indictment myself.....
lol @ the whiners and their courage to attack from behind a monitor.

I see.  Now it is an "attack" to ask if you can back up your ridiculous claim that W "used religion to mask preemptive war strikes"?   Where I come from freedom of speech still exists.  You have the freedom to spout absurd and baseless inventions, and I have the right to ask that you attempt to defend your absurd inventions. My question stands, and bears repeating:
If you are trying to imply that W "used religion to mask preemptive war strikes" cite one credible and verifiable source to support your claim.  Just one.
so the answer your stupid question Morphius, none of your f'n business).
Well, now that is a clever retort!  Ouch!  That certainly put me in my place!    So you can't find one single credible source to back up your silly claim about W using religion to mask preemptive war strikes" either, apparently? Strange.
If you don't like it, do what it takes to stop this senseless and uncontructive posting.
You mean we should use constructive posts like you where when you can't answer rationally you resort to telling people "it's none of your f'n business?"  I've got to write this stuff down so I don't forget it.
If you want to be unpatriotic bigots who whine and can not take responsibility for your own actions and happiness, maybe you should pack up and leave.
Oh good, more rational discourse.  When all else fails let's call people names!  Reminds me of the old adage, "Having lost sight of our objective, we redoubled our efforts."   What color is the sky in your world, ana?
I wasn't even directing my post to you. To paraphrase something you said in a thread, is it always about you morphius? I mean, wow, grasping straws that weren't even drawn.    Don't worry about quoting me for future reference. Worry about embarrassing yourself. That statement was meant to be a jab at Bush. Not something to get you to take seriously so you could find a reason to pick a fight with someone. Hey, I posted clear evidence, even quoting, Palin and McCain fli flopping on their issues to which no one was able to retort. You think I'm losing sleep over it? Did you honestly get up this morning to sign on, beat your chest, and see if I was able to do your own homework? Wow, Morf, is it always about you? Gotta be right on the interwebs to feels good about yourself? lol

Certainly, no one should ever accuse you of being a cliche since no one is cpable of such a feat. Yes you might have taken my calling out "whiners" to include you (perhaps because deep inside you know you are?) but I didn't mean it as an attack on you as a person.   So what else? Can you explain the laws of physics to me without the need to open a physics book?   You confuse disappointment with whining and think they're mutually exclusive. Good for you, sir.   I'm out. Thanks for clarifying that we are not to take what you say seriously.  Why do you bother posting anything if you don’t have any intent to back up your words?  Or don’t your words mean anything ever?
Hey, I posted clear evidence, even quoting, Palin and McCain fli flopping on their issues to which no one was able to retort.
Blah, blah, blah.

I’ve challenged you twice, and you’ve evaded that challenge twice.  If you had a shred of evidence you would have shared it by now.  Obviously this is yet another of the ridiculous statements that you yourself admit we should not take seriously.

Here’s your third chance before you strike out without taking a single swing, ana: If you are trying to imply that W “used religion to mask preemptive war strikes” cite one credible and verifiable source to support your claim.  Just one.

We’re all waiting on you, ana.

I had it coming? What did you do to justify wasting your time on a message board? Ya just have to be right because in real life no one gives you the time in day.

I mean, lmao, come on! You guys are still going at it? Why, for what purpose? Morf, I was't going to go off topic and start a senseless argument that was irrelevant to topic at hand. I actually have a job to do. Sorry to see you and Primo hate yourselves and family so much that you resort to nothing but senseless posting over the internet. I'm sorry you're both casualties to social retardation. I have better things to do than explain myself and my statements to a bunch of pikers.   Seriously, do you not have a job? Is that how you find the time?
Well, there was that one time, W said that thing, and that is my proof.
Oh the irony. haha.
