The jurisdiction you use to situs a trust can affect many aspects of the trust, including the amount of taxes your client will pay, how the trust is administered and whether the trust assets will be protected from creditors. Some jurisdictions are more favorable than others, and it’s important to stay up-to-date on the laws of those jurisdictions to help pick the one best suited to your client’s needs. Our panel will provide updates of the trust laws of four favorable trust jurisdictions: New Hampshire, Delaware, Nevada, and South Dakota.
