Roger Green considers his profession an ongoing community service project, educating the citizens of Duluth and surrounding communities in order to help them better plan for their futures. “We've all been blessed with different abilities. So you have to do what you can do,” says Green, who believes God gave him his particular skill set.

Green managed to pick up the thread of his future career path when he was just 19. Three separate customers he was serving during one shift as a waiter at a Houston Olive Garden asked if he'd be interested in becoming a stockbroker. He took the hint. Twenty-years later his name is on the door and his firm provides a host of services, focusing on financial and retirement planning. It's a come-one, come-all approach, and none are turned away for lack of assets.

Somehow, Green — who is married with two high school-aged boys — also finds time for a lot of other folks besides his family and clients. He teaches a retirement planning class at a local college and hosts a weekly financial planning radio show, “Your Green,“ currently in its 11th year. He's on three charity boards now and would be on more if, Green laughs, his wife hadn't said “enough.”

His talent as an organizer and fundraiser has been especially beneficial for these favored causes. He's helped raise $140,000 through several annual golf tournaments as a board member for Touching Lives Christian Ministry, the famous television ministry of Reverend James Merritt who broadcasts from Cross Pointe church in Duluth where Green is a member and usher/greeter on Sundays. And last year, Green Financial Resources' annual golf tournament raised $30,000 for the Gwinnett Children's Shelter in Buford where Green serves as a mentor to the kids as well a board member. Green is generous not only with his time but his money too — he's pumped $40,000 into his sons' high school wrestling team in the past two years, including funding for an annual college scholarship. And to do his part to ensure the survival of Touching Lives, Green's own life insurance policy includes a $500,000 gift to the ministry in the event of his death.

Fortunately for Green, he's able to juggle a busy schedule — but not without a lot of help. “I'm grateful to have 10 to 15 talented support staff on my payroll at any time,” he says. “They make every minute count.”
