Journal of Financial Planning Names New Practitioner Editor

The Financial Planning Association said Daniel Moisand has held the position since March 13 and will oversee Journal staff and create original content for the publication in his new role.

The Journal of Financial Planning has a new practitioner editor in Daniel B. Moisand, the Financial Planning Association announced today. Moisand, who is also principal and financial planner of Moisand Fitzgerald Tamayo in Melbourne, Fla., has held the post since March 13.

“I fell in love with the Journal as soon as I read an issue for the first time 25 years ago,” Moisand said. “It has been the most influential publication for me and many other practitioners as we seek to serve our clients in the best ways possible. I am thrilled to be able to help keep the Journal at the top of every professional financial planner’s reading list.”

Moisand’s appointment comes a few months after the announcement of Stuart Heckman as the Journal’s academic editor, and Moisand himself is taking over from Dave Yeske, who had served as practitioner editor since June 2015.

In his new role, Moisand will be working with Journal staff to make sure that the content of the publication is valuable for financial planners, and he will be writing original content concerning trends in the industry and technical and practice-related financial planning issues. Prior to this, Moisand was a columnist for the Journal from 2008-2015 and won the Journal’s Call for Papers competition twice.

The Journal was launched in 1979 and is a publication of the FPA, a membership organization for CFP professionals and financial planners. Moisand’s expertise will help FPA in delivering content that financial planners will find useful, according to Lauren M. Schadle, FPA’s executive director and CEO.

“As practitioner editor of the Journal, Dan will bring new perspectives that will inspire, excite and empower practitioners to drive their personal and professional development forward,” she said.
