Citi Names New Head of Wealth Management

David Poole is joining Citi, after working at E*Trade and Bank of America Merrill Lynch.

Citi’s U.S. Consumer Bank is adding David Poole as its Head of Wealth Management, according to the firm.

He joins Citi from Bank of America Merrill Lynch, where he led Merrill Edge Advisory, Client Services, Operations & Digital. He reports to David Chubak, Head of U.S. Retail Banking.

“Wealth management is an important part of our strategic plans to scale our retail bank,” said spokesperson Maggie Monaghan. “Over the past few years, we’ve continued to enhance our wealth management capabilities and offerings.”

The bank launched its robo advisor, called Wealth Builder, earlier this year and provides custody for assets passing through startup Altruist. The financial services company also added a “premier” wealth management offering, called Citigold Private Client, for clients with $1 million or more in assets. Investors using that service get “a dedicated wealth team and more advanced planning capabilities,” according to Monaghan.

Poole’s appointment will be effective on November 1.
