I read this forum but do not post much.  Just wanted to say Alice Cooper is a fool.  I’m guessing you sit in your studio apartment trying to come up with cute comments all day.  Get a real career going and maybe you can spend time helping people instead of ripping FA’s who are more successful than you are.  I’m pretty sure if half the people on this forum met you in a dark ally they would shut you up pretty quickly, I know I would.

If you are looking for prospects...simply ask. You might find a few people who are interested in what you offer. The SmartMarketing approach is not really clever anymore. Most have heard it...at least the folks you want to place.

I’ll be the 4th or 5th vote that she’s hustling AMP. The boasting of the 2% marketing support is the dead giveaway… that’s totally overblown. On top of that, the reality is, yes, 99.9% of your calls are going to amount to nothing today. If you’ve ever been in the business and had to cold call your arse off you’d know you rarely walk into ‘yes’ on call one. It takes time, call, drip, drip, drip, for months and even years and even then most will be NO.  Maybe you’re not cut out to recruit or sell for anyone f you don’t understand the process?

It is Ameriprise.  And if she is in the DC region she is cool.  We may have a bad rep with brokers, but in my 8 years the company has improved dramatically.

I can say as an outsider, AMP seems to be moving fast in the right direction. I know a few solid guys who needed to move out and went there. They’re not unhappy, just a little lost in the early going. AMP is one big acquisition or major platform revamp away from being a major force nationally. The HRB deal propelled them out West for sure. If she’s hot, maybe she’ll call me and hit me up. I’ll give her a few minutes if she’ll add me as a friend on facebook. Hell, I’ll even take a c***tail meeting to help fill a blank on her weekly reporting spreadsheet. I’m sure there’s some dork in Minn. asking why she’s not filled 10 holes this week.

Gaddock, I don’t even know what you were trying to say.  Learn how to write a complete sentence rookie.  If you are finishing your second year you are not even in my league buddy.  I have my MBA, CFP, built a fee based book on my own to 30 million and have not reached the age of 28, I don’t need your advice.  I was not trying to be an internet “tough guy”, though I thought that was pretty clever.  Alice Cooper was ripping on some poor girl who was looking for serious career advice.  You do not need to call her fat or ugly, he could probably never get a girl half as good and I have never met or seen her.  I have no idea what Alice Coopers qualifications are but I do know the guy is a jerk.  If he showed that side to his clients they would quickly fire him.  I have not seen one positive, constructive comment from him on this forum.  I read this forum because I want to keep learning from some of the vets with good ideas, not a fool like Cooper, I can get that trash talking from any ESPN forum.  If you someone wants to give a piker a hard time, I think its funny, but when you cross the line with personal comments from somebody who is just trying to improve that is going to far.

Triple me?  So you assume that grossing 200K one year proves lifetime success?  I have seen guys like you come and go.  Grossing 200K does not mean much to me, especially if its front loaded business.  So you think you will keep building and I will not grow?  Or is your math that poor?  I doubt you will have a 90 million fee based book at 5 years.  My guess is that you live in some hodunk town in the middle of the south, not a whole lot of potential, and a pretty pathetic life.  Excuse me while I go hit the beach of SoCal.

Let’s do some math…Assume that you got your undergrad at 21. Assuming that you weren’t required to have work experience before you started grad school, you got your mba at age 23. Furthermore, assume that you started working toward cfp immediately, and consider the 3 year work requirement, you are minted a cfp at age 26. You claim to have raised $30mm over a 4 year period, during a bear market, when people don’t want to pay fees to lose money.
