Hey Guys,

What are your opinions on D. A. Davidson?

My husband was a broker for AGE and we loved AGE - not so much Wach, and Wells is not looking so good either.

He has been courted from every brokerage firm in town.  Especially Merrill - we are so glad we didn’t take their offers!

Merrill isn’t our cup of tea anyway - we were very happy at AGE, is D. A. Davidson what AGE used to be or close to it?

What do you suppose would happen if the whole office moved?

Just curious… What do you think???

Thanks for your comments!

Never heard of DA Davidson. They must be a smaller regional firm. Wasn’t AGE was that once upon a time also?

Yes, I believe it is a smaller regional firm.  I don’t know too much about it, and

Yes, AGE was once a small regional firm also - I suppose that’s the attraction.

Hmmm, not really…

I joined this group back in August 2007 when I found this forum after googling Wachovia and the AGE merger and I have checked back from time to time and sometimes comment to my husband on what I read here.

I work with my hubby, so I almost feel like a broker - deep in the trenches and all.

I have felt like commenting or asking questions before, but yes, I’m just an fa’s wife, so I wasn’t really sure if I should or even if I could.

Last night my husband asked me if I had read anything on here about D. A. Davidson, I told him no, but people were pretty good about giving their comments, so I would give it a try and ask.

I guess I should have checked to see if I had to be an fa or not.

Sorry if this is just for fa’s - I should have asked the question in his name, but I didn’t think it was that big of deal.

Anyway, if anyone has a comment on D. A. Davidson, please reply.  I don’t think we are serious about jumping ship, but I’m still a bit curious.

Thanks!

You should be more serious.

Another frog about to be boiled by the bank…

I don’t know much about Davidson, but what little I’ve seen of them in industry publications has been positive.

K823, our whole office (4 fa’s, 2 reg. asst.) came from AGE to Raymond James & Assoc., the traditional branch division of RJ a year ago.  We found the culture to be very similar to what we all liked about AGE, so you might consider RJA in your mix.  FYI, if you can get 1.5mil.+ in production to move all together, RJA has been good about setting up a whole new branch, turn key, ready to go.

PS. Hank was just concerned about whether or not you were comfortable, temperature-wise.  It's all about meeting needs here at RRep.com.....

Hey thanks for clearing up the misunderstanding! lol

I appreciate your concern, and for the record, yes, I’m very hot!!  (Sitting next to a fireplace at the moment :)

I have looked at RJA and was quite impressed.  There is an office just down the street from us, so I don’t know how that would work with moving a whole office.

My husband isn’t the BM, but I’m pretty sure if he left, most if not all of the office would go with him.

I do like RJ though, thanks for the comment!

U really want to work for a company headquartered in, I think, Butte Montana? (cold also be Kalispel or Helena)?

Dec 9, 2008 11:04 pm

Just so you have accurate information: We’re based in Great Falls, Montana, which is appealing to a lot of people, especially those who like the great Northwest and want to get away from big cities or Wall Street. Have been here since 1935. Davidson is employee-owned and just passed the 1,000-employee mark.

Dec 10, 2008 1:05 am

Thanks Jackson9 for that info.

We liked the idea that it was similar to the old AGE and employee
owned.  I suppose that would mean that it was less likely that we would
be blind-sighted and taken over like AGE was.

Have you worked at Davidson for very long and do you like the environment?

Dec 17, 2008 7:57 pm

Yes and yes!
