I am 100% in favor of funny jokes.  I even like jokes in the tradition of...there was a Catholic Priest, a Mormon Bishop, and a Jewish Rabbi...etc. They are funny and not intended to offend when you make fun of everyone, but when you single out a single religion, or race for that matter, and question their intelligence because they are a member of that religion, in my opinion, you are crossing a line between trying to amuse and being a bigot.

I am a former big fan of Glen Beck and his talk show.  I have purchased both of his books and enjoyed reading them, but I no longer listen to his radio show or TV show because he has turned into a (to put it mildly) nut-job consipacy theorist.  I don't think his being a member of the LDS church has anything to do with his current politics. What I do think has to do with his politics is trying to get as many people to watch his program as possible so he can make his millions to stuff into his mattress at home and bury under his favorite tree in the backyard.  The more people he can get to watch the show drives the advertisers to pay more for their ads and, in turn, generates a nice income for the Beck family.

His radio show used to be (several years ago) hilarious!  I noticed a difference in his show after he landed his original program with CNN on TV.  He has been different from the moment he got the job and it has been even worse since he joined FOX.   I am happy that he has overcome drugs, alcohol, and a failed marriage to become the upstanding citizen he is today.  I think he is trying to make a living just like everyone else and that is his right as an American.   MV crossed the line when he questioned his intellectual prowess because Glen Beck converted to Mormonism as an adult.  It would be the same as someone questioning the intelligence (or lack thereof) of Jon Stewart from the Daily Show because he is of Jewish descent. It's WRONG, it's bigotry and it shouldn't be tolerated by anyone who is fair, just, contributing member of a civilized society.  Adolf Hitler hated Jews and was a religious bigot. Do you really want to put yourself in the same category as one of the world's worst criminals in history?  Bigotry, in any form, is wrong and should be shunned.   MinimumVariance, I don't know you, and maybe you were just making a joke.  I hope that is the case and I am willing to give you the benefit of the doubt.  Good luck.   Lapide

Maris Osmond was hot, but the Book of Mormon is pretty whack. You can question this guy Beck’s conversion  – without being a bigot.

No you can't.    Bigot= a prejudiced person who is intolerant of any opinions differing from his own.  Definition courtesy of Princeton.

I get that you don't have the same beliefs as Mr. Glen Beck, but when question his intelligence because of his beliefs, you enter the realm of intolerance, which is then defined as religious bigotry.

"No you can't"   hey Lapide...your own words...

"Bigot= a prejudiced person who is intolerant of any opinions differing from his own."

if I was Mormon myself I'd admit we had some "unique" traditions, so chill the f$#k out with the PC nazi routine.

I can’t stand “Red Sox Nation”. Does that make me a bigot?

Look, if you think Glen Beck is an idiot that is fine with me.  If you disagree with his opinions that is also great because I disagree with them myself.  However, you are a bigot if you believe him to be stupid because of his religious beliefs.

I never meant to imply that someone is a bigot because they think someone else is stupid or crazy.  I used to be a big fan of Mr. Beck, but right now he is way to negative on the country and the economy.  I believe he is that way to gain a larger viewing audience for his cable news program.   I did mean to say that you are bigot if you believe someone is unintelligent because they are a member of any religion, or race, or creed for that matter.  Anyone can disagree on matters, but when you call them out strictly because they are a member of another race, religion, or culture then, by definition, you are a bigot!  I don't think it should be tolerated by progressive people in modern society and I'm sorry if that offends you, but I'd rather be in my shoes, someone who appreciates and admires many different cultures and religions, than the shoes of an intollerant, narrow-minded, and shallow person.   Lapide

Yeah, but someone that really knows said “Rush Limbaugh is a big fat idiot.” I think that makes it true.
