Merrill suspends new trainee program

I don’t know if it’s company wide, but I just got a call from a branch manager that I was interviewing with and was told that in light of current news, they weren’t taking on any more new hires and that cost containment is the word of the day.
It may just be that one complex, not sure.I have not heard that and we are supposed to have some new guys start in the next month or so. I wonder if they are still coming on board.
It would not surprise me if they have stopped hiring across the firm. There are going to be some serious cost cutting measures in the next year.My friend just started with ML in January after we were cut from SB in October.
