Anyone hearing anything about Pathways going away?  With the ML training cuts, lots of rumors that Pathways is going away, or at least all but the top few trainees.  We have heard that it is not going away from some in management, while others swear that the salary expense doesn’t support the revenues and that Pathways is being cut, along with some FA1s as well.

Has anyone heard anything reliable about the future of the program?

I wouldn’t trust much information you hear from upper management. I’m a POA at Merrill that survived the cuts and we had zero warning that they were coming. It would probably be wise to have a safety net option in line at this point if you are not a top producer.

I think pathways are safe for now…But I think they will revisit end of Q1…I’d say start producing or start looking…

Pathways GONE, FAI not worth staying for. If your doing less than 350k go somewhere else.

All indications point to it going away. Under the new model, new recruits simply don’t fit. Why would any firm hire someone green to build a book from scratch when s/he won’t get paid for any account under $100k, which is where a lot of rookies used to generate good business. If I were the CEO, I wouldn’t put any money into it - (I’d spend it on my office…)

My guess is the training program may shift to the branch level - keep the suit and tie at home, gentlemen, time to break out the khakis and polo shirts!

I’m not at Merrill but it’s an interesting thread.

I think the Future has changed for a lot of new and semi-new brokers. I hope it hasn’t become “No Future”. Sounds like the title of a good punk rock song.
