Wells Fargo

A friend of mine is looking into getting into this buisness. A Wells Fargo office is hiring in our area and he’s asking me a ton of questions about them. I know that office was formally AG Edwards/Wachovia but other than that I don’t know anything about them (I’m at Jones). He has his insurance license, but not a 7 or 66. What can you guys tell me about the Wells Fargo FA program?
Run far the opposite way! The reason they are hiring is because people are jumping from the sinking ship daily…it will take years to get that mess cleaned up
I interviewed with Wachovia (former AGE) in December. Made it through the several phone and behavioral interviews, met the BOM, aced the FIAT, and was essentially offered a position. Then I got a call that I would need to go through the resume process again with a different regional recruiter. I came down to the office to fill out a brand new application, met with the BOM again, and let him know that honestly, I was on a parallel path with EDJ, and they wanted me to start in 2 weeks. He actually thanked me for my honesty, and recommended that I accept the offer! He was friends with my RL and had alot of respect for the company. This was back in early January. I noticed that there was something wrong about the atmosphere at the office, like everyone had a nervous tick in their smiles and seemed almost like walking zombies. After all the news that has come out since then, I have thanked my lucky stars and haven’t looked back. I am sure they will bounce back eventually, and if they keep the AGE training program (which at that time was the case), it should still be a good company. I just can’t bring myself to recommend them at this particular time.
RK,
I can't tell you squat about WF, but Hank alluded to a very good point. This is not a time(unless you are desparate) to be joining a firm where there may be questions about it's future, pay structure, training program, etc. A lot of these "morphed" firms are going to be just fine, the problem is nobody knows who the casualties are going to be along the way. Better to either go to a stable regional/national (or indy if you can find a local one), or wait until all the dust has settled in the wirehouse world.I have a well fargo trailer for my dirt bikes!! oh wait that is wells CARGO
