I never invested a penny in my life and want to get started so please dont bash me for not knowing much.

I will probably have about one grand left over after school expenses this summer.  What would be the best route for me to take if i want to save up enough money for graduate school?

Also my girlfriend is currently working and she will more then likely have 10 grand left over each year.  What would the best way for her to invest her money?  I believe she's looking to invest in something safe and has easy access.  I believe they call it liquidity.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Check with the friend who works in a restaurant--I hear that they're an intern at Citigroup.

Prettyniceyboy,  While we do discuss investment strategy in a hypothetical way here, as professionals trading ideas, we can't (by law) give you individual advice on this or any other internet board.  Check out the various companies that have been mentioned in these forums and find an office near you.

Good luck and good that you are thinking ahead.

Is it possible for me to get a link so i can do some research on investment plans?

And how much does it generally cost to talk to a financial advisor?

It's not so much the cost...  It's more, finding an advisor that will take such a small account.
