Agreed.  I’m fairly new here, but it just doesn’t seem professional to post your numbers and poke fun at others like we are in middle school (prepared for being shot down immediately by those on this board who are more childish---- “shutup newb” “you haven’t done sh&% until you produce” “Talk to me in six months”)
I’ll avoid the middle-school fun and go right to some more serious business.

You might want to take down that blog before you take the 7. I’m not a compliance officer, but I’m pretty sure publishing your stock picks is a violation. Actually, I think your b/d will need to approve your blog if it has anything to do with finance.

It’s also a good idea to stay anonymous here (no links, hints, etc.) to your real name just in case you say something that might come back to haunt you later.

I remember a while back, there was a guy on here who was a real prick. He was making up stories all the time about all the money he was making and everyone hated him. It got really ugly with people calling his office and making threats. I think there was even talk about visiting his kid’s elementary school. I’m not sure why it got like that, I guess he was a real douche!

No need to stay anonymous if you’re not a total asshole

Just kidding … Still actually gave good advice, this could be the sign of the apocalypse.

I appreciate that thanks.  Didn’t actually think of it.  I’ll speak with my BOM about it, as I don’t actually take my 7 until November xxx

… You could let me know what you think of the picks in the mean time

Don’t underestimate the importance of anonymity.  Now that everybody knows your real identity, immediately stop posting as workinhard.

That blog has the potential to get you fired before you even start.  You may want to consider immediately stopping it instead of bringing it to your BOM's attention.   You also can't post the stuff on Facebook that you're posting.

It took me my first 18 months to realize the only people who cared about my stock picks were the other advisors in my office, and prospects with Ameritrade or Etrade Accounts, and talking to other advisors around the water cooler about it wasted my time and didn’t pay me, and talking with people with online brokerage accounts wasted my time and didn’t pay me.

Once I realized this and got out of my own way I started to become effective.  If you think this business is about stock picks you’re going to be in for a rude awakening.

Ok, now we’re going to make this thread about workinhard. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? You posted a blog with your stock picks?

Seriously. What anonymous said. Immediately stop posting as workinhard. Take the blog down before your BOM sees it. And delete your facebook profile.

Don’t delete your facebook page, that’s silly.  Do delete the blog and your screenname.  Come back as someone new.  Your not a jerk so no one will have any idea who you are.

I've been keeping a record of my "jones travels" and might turn it into a blog at somepoint so people will stop PMing me about it. I think those are fine just don't give investment advice.

I like IPI for the same reasons as you picked POT.
I didn’t get to reading any of the others.

when studying for the series 7 and series 66 test how much does edward jones pay you?

Oct 2, 2009 8:09 pm

depends on how many hours you claim! Put in 60-70 and it will be a little more than the “base” they offer.

Another topic about “who is the tallest midget.”  Shouldn’t we share ideas to help each other in this tough business?  Rodney King wouldn’t take this crap.  Grow up?
