Has anyone ever prospected at a Job Fair?  If people are laid off I imagine this would be a decent place to uncover 401k rollovers.  Booths at a local career fair are cheap so just trying to get some feedback. Figured I might have a drawing for a career book or something similar.   Waste of time or worth trying?

Great idea! Especially if you meet a decent prospect who also may qualify to get hired with the firm. You can take your wife and he and his wife out for dinner on EJs dime! If it works out you get a Div. Credit and if it doesn't you get a cap of $50 dollars a plate for dinner and all the more leverage to get his 401k and look like a stud in the process.

Maybe not a bad idea, but they might be living off of it… If i was to sign up, might send a secretary or intern to do it… Wouldn’t want to stand there all day.

My other thought was talking to the other companies that were out there about doing employee education for their staffs.  Oh, and usually the recruiters are decent looking!

I would look up the employers listed at the fair and judge by that. The more that it looks like a career fair and not a job fair, the more likely you will find success.

Just remember to tap your foot twice and have a wide stance to signal the recruiter in the bathroom stall next to you of your interest.

Anyone have any success working with outplacement firms - not recruiters, but the firms that are hired by companies when the do layoffs, to help coach the people laid off on job hunting.
