It’s amazing how many people wear their “Loser” sign as if it were a badge of honor.

"Has nobody told you that you have to be able to afford to live on your savings and/or handouts from parents for so long that you'll feel like there will never be an end to it."

Actually, if you do lots of joint work and also take care of protection issues (insurance), there is no reason that you can't be making a decent living 3-4 months into your career, but you will have to be willing to work your butt off to make this happen.
Oh, and the other thing was, suppose around June or July I decide I want to bail, that this just isn’t my cup of tea.

Does my license go down the drain?
This is a very tough business.  It's impossible to succeed if you don't have confidence in yourself.

It's the middle of April and you're planning to quit in June or July?

Has nobody told you that you might not make more than minimum wage for a year or two?

Has nobody told you that you'll have to dial the phone so many times that your arm will hurt from picking up the receiver?

Has nobody told you that you have to be able to afford to live on your savings and/or handouts from parents for so long that you'll feel like there will never be an end to it.

Then one day, when you least expect it something good will happen.

You'll never get there if you don't screw your head on straigt.

Regarding your license. I assume you have not studied for it yet because one of the basic questions asks how long an inactive license may remain inactive.  Which would  you suspect is right?

a. 30 days
b. 6 months
c. 1 year
d. 2 years
Uh...  It's 2 years. Thanks for the lecture.

You may not want to hear what he has to say, but all he says is accurate!

I'm not sure what else you were expecting to be able to do with a 7 & 63.

Thanks for the feedback. I wasn't "expecting" anything, I just did what they asked me to do. It was a pre-requisite to winning the internship. I had tunnel vision while going through the process. Now that I have them, and the smoke has cleared, in the aftermath I wondered what else I could do with them. I wasn't getting any feedback from my sponsor, that's for sure.

I think they just need to cycle new meat for the call center, and that's why they provide internships. But I have to be honest, at this point in time, I have no aspirations to be a stockbroker. I was just looking for some industry experience, make a little money, and pick up a handful of credits.

Well, at the very least I'm sure it will look good on my resume. Right?
Depends which company you "won" the internship from.  Does not sound like a great firm.  I am guessing it is Ameriprise.  Post your resume on Monster.com and they will award you with an "internship"

3-4 months?  You're joking right?  Or have you been talking to the Jones recruiters again?  Primerica?  Am I getting warm?

Slim are you slim? Just feel a shimmy in your step...

For sure its easy to be confused entereing this industry. Who ever told you that your a potential insurance sales man, says that to everyone. They are always looking for new recruits. Since you passed the 7 and 63...

As for the career I personally completed the MBA (without CFP) and now entering the industry as an apprentice under an Indy. Indy more or less has less of a structured training plan for new RR's, but 90% potential commission vs. 40ish in the industry.

If you will be working in a call center I suspect you obtain customer interaction and sales skills. They could help you in the long term. Also the people who I have met in this industry who make it, typically have an inner desire to win. Most are strong communicators, call any over the phone to verify... After a few years the ones I talk to know what they are talking about... Strong sales and networking skills..

More or less you need to set a fire under your a.. and get some confidence!!! Good luck...

First of all, I’m not a loser. Secondly, I apologize for getting out of line with you.

BEF-

I saw in another thread (I can’t seem to find it) something about how the cold calling monkey has to sales pitch a stock 100 times before the sharks at the office can buy it for their own account. Something about a law. And you used a character called “Freddy Phuqmaster”.

This intrigued me, I was wondering if you can elaborate (if this even rings a bell). Thanks.

I guess somebody is giving me the cold shoulder.
