. i’m 6’2/210…i wouldnt advise any women/small men to answer the door if i knocked either.

See B24 - All of these people are over 6 feet tall.

The_Belter:

I am 6’5 230, and have had very little problems having people open their doors when I knock.

See. 6'5''. What is interesting is that so many people who POST their heights are significantly above average.

B24, you and I might be the only ones under six feet.

A piece of advice for you.  Door knocking is silly, but it does work.  It is a very slow tedious process though.  If you think cold calling would be better then pick up the phone a minimum of 100 times a day as it is truly a numbers game.  To me though you have some confidence issues so I would go to a company that will open doors for you and give you warm leads since your personality doesn’t warrant your current job.  To knock on doors or make cold calls you have to learn to let it all roll off your shoulders…you evidently can’t do that.

Go to a bank program, get the low hanging fruit, build a fee based business for at least 5 years and then go somewhere else.  That is my advice.

go independent. when you are working on your business, you will do what it takes to succeed. Btw, if someone knocked on my door, I would answer with a gun holstered, for sh*ts and giggles.

But would I buy something from a guy going door to door? no. An investment professional going door to door during the daytime shows to me they dont value their own time. Sorry.

Is it effective though? absolutely. you will have someone that doesnt care about that and will give you the business.

Personally, I prefer to work my existing relationships, hard. as well as onlne marketing.

If you are 23... the best thing you can do is open up your facebook, or myspace, print a list of all your friends, talk to them. then call their parents.

Target market.

going door to door is not target marketing.

Mj how long have you been out of kyc? 1 week? 2 weeks? It takes time bud.

Oct 11, 2009 5:31 pm

MJ stick with it. Its all attitude like previous people have said. I did door to door cable sales before starting with Jones just to make sure I could handle it. Its not probably ever going to be a favorite thing to do but remember its a means to an end, and you don’t have to do it forever.

Door knocking and cold calling both require overcoming rejection. I cold-walk businesses twice a week and often get rejected. Just smile, be polite, and move on. If you think cold-calling is easier you are in for a rude awakening. You will deal with rejection on both ends. Every time you get rejected you are closer to finding a prospect. Every time you find a prospect you are closer to making them a client.

Your solution: Wake up and commit to having a great day, or find something you will enjoy better. Your attitude is the key to being successful.

Well said, now get to it. To quote the great Alec Baldwin in the best sales movie ever:   "They're sitting out there just waiting to give you their money. Are you going to take it? Are you man enough to take it?"
