Right on, BB.  I haven’t reported cold calling activities to my compliance dept. in 3 years, much less voluntarily make them aware of anything illegal I’m doing (Not that I am, of course).

But seriously, have you guys hired non-registered cold callers?  How have you arranged it with the cold-caller?

I have. They all suck. I pay solely on results, but I pay a lot. I let the last one go a couple of weeks ago. I’m going to pour $50,000-$100,000 into my business by the end of this year with new staff, office space, and seminars.

Are you a RR or an RIA/IAR?  What are you doing for seminars?

My boss told me one time he used to pay $10 an hour and $10 for each held appt to some retired woman who would call 2-3hrs a week and set 3-4 appts, and usually one would cancel so he'd hold 2 or 3.  He said it usually cost him $50-70 a week and he just paid cash to her.  This was back in the early 2000s.  Evidently she really liked the setup and she became sortof an advocate for him at the senior events in her town and would refer friends and family to him and she'd get double for personal referral appointments.   She was in her 60s and didn't do email so she'd mail him index cards with the prospects information and notes on it.

I'm sara calling on behalf of a local financial advisor in the area Are you currently working with a financial professional?   -if so:  great - what firm are you working with? Well as you know with current market conditions now more than EVER is the TIME to get a 2nd opinion.  Have you had an independet review of your portolio done in the last six months?   -if not: great, well as you know with current market conditions now more than EVER is the TIME have a professional review your plan and make sure you are on track to hit your goals.   .. Then jump into scheduling.   I just wrote that up in 2 minutes - so I'm sure it needs tons of work and not even sure it would work.  Any thoughts B24?
No, I think it's fine.  Volt, you're with EDJ, right?  I guess you haven't come up against Compliance yet.  I don't mean to discourage you, I just think your FSD would laugh so hard he would have to control himself from farting.   Now, if I am wrong, that would be great.  It certainly doesn't hurt to find out.  But do some more research before you go to FSD, as maybe it's being done somewhere and I don't know about it.  You might ask Spiff or YTREWQ - they have much more time in the pen than me.
Lets just put it this way, Volt:   I'm not going to knowingly drive drunk, but if I've had a few and may be close to the limit, I'm not going to stop by the Cop Shop on my way home and ask for a breathalizer...
I read you loud and clear..

Not sure what your set up is there BOBBY… but what do your cold callers call on? Appt. or qualification for you to call later?

Brek… what the guy in your office that called having the old hag call on prospects or cold?

… Why not swing the bat and spend a few hundred dollars to see if it works is my thought.  I’d spend twice as much and do more work doing a mailer.

I sometimes have someone make calls for me.  The call is always for the appointment.  If my caller is dumb and knows nothing about my business, I have her play very dumb.   I'll often do this when I want to set up a meeting for that day.

Cold Caller: "Bob Jones, please." Bob: This is Bob. CC: Bob, This is Judy from Mr. Anonymous's office.  He asked me to set up a quick meeting for the two of you.   He's going to be in your building today at 12:50.  Will you be in? Bob: I'll be there, but what is this all about? CC: I really don't know.  He just left a note in my office asking me to set the meeting because he very much wanted to meet you and to try very hard to try to squeeze it in for today. Bob:  Ok. I'll be here.

The job and role of appointment setting are not so easy we thinks. Generally they are working for set appointments between two parties. Appointment setters maintain meeting schedules and appointments.
