I'd also add:  Emotional

Drove me crazy, either everything was roses or it stunk.  Either the market was zooming to the moon or it was crashing and burning.  The roller coaster emotional ride was always draining, even if you tried to stay away from them.  Best part of being independent!

I hate to burst that bubble, but right here on this forum we have a regular poster who ranks among the most emotional types when it comes to the market I've ever encountered and he's, dare I say it, an indy.

Who?  Do tell!

Self centered

Selfish

Self motivated

Could care a rat's behind about anyone else in the office except themselves.

Makes me want to go indy just to get away from all these type A's

I'd love to hear more about the magical personality transforming effects of going indy.

Ironic isn't it Mike?  All this stuff makes him "want to go indy" when he doesn't have any experience from which to speak.  Yet, he's wise enough to "know" an "idiot" when he sees one.

Truth is that generally I AM happier since going indy because I deal with less political bs.  But, it's not nirvana, just better for me.   In some ways I do work harder because there is some of the extra administrative stuff to do, and more calls from salespeople.  But, I have a little more control over that stuff, at least that's how I feel.

Joe, I'm really glad you're enjying it and it's working out for you. Like I admitted above I didn't consider vbrainy meant that he'd escape the "typical" wirehouse FA by opening an office by himself. Rather I was thinking he'd join an existing office, as if the FAs there would be any different than what he'd been complaining about. IOW, people are people, regardless of where they hang their hat. No offense intended.

No offense taken bro, really.  I've met a few offices full of A-type sleaezoids over here on the dark side as well.  We're not all about Birkenstocks and Granola.

I just mean now I don't have to associate with them.  My office is so blissfully even emotionally -- such a difference to come to work!

Sure, there are plenty of those boom & bust people around in every facet of the business.

Vbrainy --

1.If you spent more time on the phone talking to clients and prospects (your job) you wouldn't be concerned with others in the office.

2. You may not like being surrounded by Type A's, but I bet they motivate you to push yourself. Go indy and you will languish by your self.

Nothing motivates type Z's. They hate type A's because making money seems to come so easy to us and we have a blast when we are challenged.
