okay spiffy you have clearly shown me the way
cj - I’m sure I’m not the only one who thinks this, so I’m gonna say it.  You need to back off.  We get it that you don’t like EDJ.  OK, fine.  You took a perfectly good thread that was not EDJ related and turned it into one.  advisorman quoted Einstein and you retorted with a personal attack.  It does seem like you are stalking him.  Which is kind of weird.  Of course I know first hand what that’s like since you did the same thing to me a couple of weeks ago.

I don't mind a good debate.  Spears and I like to throw jabs at each other from time to time, but I think we'd probably get along pretty good in the real world.  But you tend to cross the line and make personal attacks way too often.  If you've got a bone to pick with Jones, why don't you try to find a more constructive way to do it than this?  As advisors we already have a disdain for anyone compliance related.  You're not helping the stereotype.  So, again, do us all a favor and back off with the personal attacks.  Thanks.
Not against you, just tired of your recent tirades against a-man.  You made your point.  Give it a rest.  Go play with your kids, or take a nap.  Maybe you'll be a little less crabby that way.

As I read the posts in this forum I have come to the conclusion that Registered Rep is just wasting space on their server with this forum. I have never seen so many self rightous people that go out of their way to belittle people for no reason. I guess this is suppose to be a private club for the superior beings known as independents and us peons just don’t understand.

I can't imagine how some of these people serve their clients when they appear to be so ignorant. Maybe it's all an act and they know how to act human when the situation arises.

It's pretty amusing to see you referring to others as self-righteous....
Dec 27, 2007 2:00 pm

Self righteous?! Why, I’m the most humble person in the whole world.  NO ONE can outdo me in humility - NO ONE!  I am the world champion of humility!!!

Self righteous … HA!

You seem to take great pride in your humility.

But MY humility makes me better than everybody else.   LOL

Amen, this board really does seem to have a lot of negativity.  Okay who is going to call me an idiot, or a newbie that doesn’t know anything.  Please someone prove my point!

Who wants to correct my spelling/grammar?
Feb 18, 2008 12:38 pm

Akkula,

A support person in the back office of a 401(k) administrator makes you on par with "secretary".  When you get hired by someone as a financial advisor, you will then graduate to "newbie".   A newbie who doesn't know anything is expected and accepted here.  A secretary who thinks he knows things about being a financial advisor will get neither respect nor acceptance.    I sincerely hope that you decide to become a productive member of this board.

Who wants to correct my spelling/grammar?
Wow, I didn't even have to wait long after my original post to get my point proven.  See the above post .  I am proud of what I do and I train a lot of financial advisors on the intricacies of 401k plans so they can explain things to their clients.   FA's shouldn't have to know all of this information just to sell and service a plan, so I am a good resource for them and I maintain much of the client relationship.   So, far, my experience with this board has been a lot of people marking their territory and barking quite a bit, but I have not seen any real responses to any of the questions I have asked regarding 401k.  I am hoping that there will at some point, be some substance because I am sure that many people have graduated from "newbie" status on 401k.  So, if you really, really, really want to show me up, go ahead and respond with some type of knowledge about your craft on some topics that are on subject.   Some certainly have proved that they have a Ph.D. in ruthlessly protecting their "hood" against those outsiders from down the block, but not much professional knowledge.   ***I do appreciate all the good FA's on this board that are kind and helpful.

No doubt the reason you haven't seen any "real" responses to your questions is because those who possess the knowledge you seek have no reason to share that knowledge with someone as rude and arrogant as you have shown yourself to be.

Unlike you, we have nothing left to prove.  We certainly have nothing to gain by "showing up" a back office admin who has not spent one single day as a FA.  Some of us have been FAs as long as you have been alive.  We share willingly with those wise enough to ask for help rather than demand it.

You, my friend, seem only hell-bent on alienating everyone who could possibly help you.

I think if any objective person cares to read my posts since I have shown up here, I have not attacked anyone personally and I have tried to contribute something.  You can see that since my first post, people have tried to “put me in my place.”  Nobody has really attacked my ideas or debated anything, just attacked me personally.

If by arrogant, you mean I stand up for myself when I am attacked, then "yes" I am arrogant.  I am not sure if this is some kind of hazing you do to everyone who dares to post on this board, but if I can't be secure enough in myself and my knowledge, I probably don't have any business considering jumping to a FA position.  I will encounter much worse out there with prospects.   I do not know much if anything about being a FA, I DO know something about my niche and what plan sponsors expect regardless of my age or tenure.  I do focus on that 365 days per year so I probably have more "time" in my specific product than others may have who do not specialize in that product.  That is why I want to leverage my strength by focusing on something I know.    Hopefully, we can have a truce because these types of exchanges seem to be counter productive.  I shouldn't have started out by complaining!   Thanks.

Akkula,

It's a shame that you don't realize that when your were told to be a question asker and not a question answerer, you were getting good advice.   Because you are so much on the defensive, everything looks like an attack to you.     The best way to stop exchanges that you feel to be counter productive is to not participate in those exchanges.

Feb 20, 2008 4:20 pm

What is with this prattling on about “attacks” and “truces”?   Correction and truth is no attack, just as allowing someone to persist in error is no favor.

No doubt growing up you probably also firmly believed that your teachers were mean and even attacked you.  It is generally only with the benefit of time, experience and maturity that we come to finally realize that those “mean” teachers were the ones who taught us the most.  Those that didn’t challenge us and instead let us skate by without any real effort may have seemed “nice” at the time, but eventually we come to realize that they did us no favors, unless ignorance truly is a virtue.

Learning anything of value is seldom easy, nor without some pain.  None of us are immune from this, including those of us here who you apparently feel are being mean.  We’ve all had to learn, and continue to do so.  That some of us may be further along this particular path of learning than others is less an indicator of any superiority than it is a reflection of how long we have persisted in our journey, and how many times we’ve gotten back up after falling.

Often we’ve learned the hard way - by making stupid mistakes.  Somewhere along the line most of us have had the good fortune of finding someone who generously shared their experience which helped us avoid having to make all the mistakes ourself.  That is why some of us have chosen to ‘pay it forward’ by sharing some of our experience with those who are in the early stages of the journey we have been on for some time.

We don’t force anyone to listen to us or heed our advice.  There is no club to join, no “kissing up” required, nor any IQ test administered.

By the same token, we don’t OWE anything to anyone here, nor do we respond favorably to those who seem to believe they are entitled to anything they want from us, when they want it, and in any manner they so choose.  Trying to demand of someone that which can only be given by free choice is as fruitless an exercise in futility here as it is in the real world.

There is no truce from truth.  Will you choose to be a “victim” of an “attack,” or a traveler on a challenging but exhilarating journey to your future?

Thank you Sir, may we have another.  I noticed Akkula
is slowly gaining acceptance in other posts…he’s a big boy and can take care of himself without further interference from me.

Fight the power.  Break through the establishment.  That's me! Thanks for having some guts to post, Megamonet!  It is not easy out here!
