Producing BOMs

So I'm not really clear now. What do producing bom's at UBS really do now. How exactly has their jobs changed? What realistic expectations can we have of them now?    I'm asking because my bom never comes out of his office now. I realize he's probably trying to build a book--although, he said being a producing mgr--running a book, and trying to manage doesn't work.
