Anyone have any knowledge of Merrill Lynch settleing promissary note balances when an advisor leaves?

For starters, I would say any securities lawyer, no matter how awful, would be better than asking this forum.
I would be curious if Bank of America is any tougher than Merrill at chasing down the notes.
