I love the Commonwealth ad set inside the online article. Does the article foreshadow future growing pains for LPL? We know they are a great outfit, but they will be bumping up against a lot of situations like this as LPS feeds the need to grow, and it may make the whole objectivity attribute (rap)  look less meaningful.

This coupled with the issues of LPL and their 3rd party FBAM programs makes me wonder what is next. BTW, I understand that goes into effect on Sept. 1st.

I like the JNL product also.  It sounds like JNL folded at the threat.  I don't like this kind of game at all, but I understand why LPL did it...they were protecting the investment that they had just purchased.  Sounds like NP was paying some HUGE up-front bonuses for indies...I've never heard of 40%+ for indies, but there's no doubt that would be enticing for some folks, particularly if they were looking at wholesale changes because their B/D had just been swallowed up.

I'm a little uncomfortable reading about things like this, but I'm still far from convinced that this firm isn't the best fit for my business.  LPL knows that changing B/D's is a pain in the behind, so they know they have a little wiggle room with those of us already on board, but I hope and believe that they'll know where the line is and not cross it.  I'm in no way looking to make a move, but I have my limits...as my last employer found out.  The only thing I'm certain of at this point is that I never want to be an employee again...I think my B/D has plenty of control even in an independent arrangement.

I saw JNL at the Chicago city tour last week and as far as I could tell, it was business as usual for them...

Pardon, what is the third party FBAM program? LPL appears so solid, built from the ground up, rep centric with an independent product focus. I guess the JNL threat is crossing some sort of line, like Bobby says, it would make you want to drop them like a hot potato, or at least not consider joining, so what are they thinking.
