MS is finally going to make its FA's dress professionally. It is about time.
I assumed all of the wirehouses required business attire.
Across all spectrums of the business world the trend as been back to traditional business attire.
It's like so many things--when you give a moron an inch he'll take a mile. It's crazy to think that a brokerage firm should allow casual attire, but they did.
The pendulum went too far and now it's swinging back. I suspect that a day will come when the only thing that is acceptable in men will be dark suits, white shirts and ties that are not obvious due to their color or pattern.
I personally enjoyed wearing my speedos and a tie, but I understand where cooperate is coming from!

Are you a cross dresser?
Yeah, that's a real knee slapper. I can see why you wanted to use that icon deal.
What a clever guy you are.

In what way? The ones I'm in contact with have always dressed professionally. Then again, I don't know many DW hold-overs.
In my office I have seen everything.

Sweatpants and a feathered boa?
…wearing a pick beret
Professional dress is a contextual thing, and should be appropriate to the events of the day.
Whenever I see somebody wearing a suit in August here in Houston, I assume that his employer doesn’t trust him to dress himself.
There are exceptions of course. You should wear a suit to most interviews, to court or to certain functions. But if an employer ALWAYS requires a certain dress style then it shows a lack of trust.
Those stupid firms like Morgan Stanley don't know how that the idea of "Dress for Success" is so yesterday.
