E*Trade
Any opinions on E*Trade? I was just offered a sweet deal!!!
what sort of sweet deal did Etrade offer you?

His first 30 trades are free!
If it was for a new branch, watch out. A few years ago they
opened branches inside of target reatil center. They paid their
brokers over 100k a year (from what I understand), a year later they
laid off all most of the brokers and closed almost all their branches
inside target reatail stores. I work in the discount side of the
industry and I really enjoy it. I have never been full
service. If you ex-full service, you may not like the discount
side. The only full service guys that I know who stayed discoun
were usually guys who washed out becuase they were bad salesmen.
Let me know how it goes…
also,
let me know if it is for a branch or in a call center…
they are getting into banking too, so be ready to be a banker!
etrade?? give me a break!
Is that the joke or the punchline....?
Sweet deal? do you get a cordless phone so you can walk around and take phone orders?
I hear the Verizon is looking for a few good men/women to man their phones.
100k a year! you have go to be kidding me!
Well. The salary was pretty decent, and its in a call center environment. I just got my S7 and have been looking for a job…

I remember when E-Trade opened up a branch in my local Target. I always wanted to take my shopping cart up to their front desk and ask if I could pay for my stuff there or ask them which aisle has the toilet paper. <?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

If you want to work in a non-personal call center environment, go ahead.

Who sponsored you for the Series 7? Didn't they offer you a job?
good question dobe…he’d need to be sponsored.
I was working for Morgan Keegan. I got a false fail from the NASD so I was fired. Bills got behind, so now I am needing stability.

Another piker who can't manage is own affairs, yet somehow believes he is qualified to do it for others. Learn how to balance your own checkbook, become an adult, and then think about offering services to other adults.
"?"
It may be helpful for me to initially establish my "qualifications". First my degree, securities licenses, as well as success with past clients, more than satisfies my being qualified. Second I have managed HNW portfolios. "This may satisfy my potential ability to balance a checkbook." Lastly been an adult for more than 20 years.
Please do not mistake a short-term setback, to discredit by qualifications.

I don’t give a crap about your securities licenses or your degree. Suppose you sign up for instruction from a personal trainer. He has a degree in Health and Human Performance, and has some certification from the state or whatever. And, he’s on staff at some club. Then, you show up for your first training session, and the guy is a total fat ass who obviously can’t run a mile or do a single pull up. What’s going through your head at about that point? Get it? Or, maybe I’m just shallow.
Exactly WHERE were you managing "HNW Portfolios", at H&R Block?
Come on guy's, just when i thought the boards were getting cleaner. Just give the advice someone is seeking.
I am sorry I can not help you with E-Trade, I would also assume though its a call center, and does not deal with the client face to face. Maybe you need the dough and it could satisfy that for the time being though. Just go sell yourself again, if you had a false fail atleast that is something all firms are aware of now.
Good Luck
Gentlemen… I concur…
I got a false fail from the NASD
Take it easy guys. The brokers who failed because of that NASD computer error got a very raw deal.
If you’re not sure what I’m talking about, see this article on WSJ.
Brokr- Has anybody sued EDS over that one yet?
You’re asking a tough question. Working in a call center isn’t the best way to start your career. It’s possible to move up from there, but many brokers never make it.
However, working in a call center is much better than destroying your credit rating. And I assume that you’ve tried everything else.
I love how people throw $100k around as chump change. A call center position may be the perfect job for a lot of people. Have you considered the fact it’s a stable paycheck, no concerns about performance, never take the job home at night, no long hours calling prospective clients with your next pay check on the line, no real rejection. Not a bad income if that’s what you prefer. Heck, in my area doctor’s make about $140k and they have a heck of a lot more stress than a call center broker has.
But hey, if you want to pretend that you make so much money and are so important that you should make fun of people making $100k per year, be my guest.

That's pretty f'ing unfair. He's not out there trying to teach people how to balance a checkbook. He's a new, broked*ck broker trying to get started in the toughest time ever for a rookie to start.
