There was a guy I heard of in a East Texas town that got canned for helping out his assistant.

How about the guy who got fired for having porn in his VCR at the office.

Keep guessing- it gets better...

Wow...and to think I thought it was interesting to have a stripper for a CLIENT...apparently some Jones offices make that look pretty tame...

I told her that I couldn't take cash, but I know for a fact that she paid for her tax return with several twenties...and fifty-five ones.

Million Dollar Producer. Had 6 full time BOA's- four of whom he recruited from a local Strip Club! He owned a limo and would send one or two 'assistants' to pick clients' up for a Portfolio Review. They showed them the Mountain Charts- everybody was Happy- for awhile.

Then it all came crashing down- it always does. Seems he didn't pay bonuses on an even basis and one gal collected the reminders he would put on their desk in his own handwriting that said "Rememeber- tomorrow is NO Panty Friday!".

Sounded like a fun place to work.

Sorry I offended you Gone Indy. I didn't REALLY mean that he rocks. But he sure found a better way of building a booming business instead of Knocking on Doors.

I cannot verify that WHO he actually is. But I can verify the truth of the story.

No problem Muny, you didn't offend me.  I know the individual that everyone is talking about.  It's just funny that every time I hear the story told it becomes a little more fabricated.

TRUTH and GONE INDY:

Here's how I got the story: (PS GONE-since you know him-may let him know this is how it gets around)

A GP in STL ranked between 5-10 in the firm told the story in an Italian Restaurant, during dinner, with another GP at the table of about 12. Myself and three other IR's were his intended audience. Don't have a CLUE why he told the story but he claimed to be on the council of peers doing the inquisition.

He said all was well in the office. There were never any complaints from clients nor from the staff on the after-hours activities. They closed the office early on Friday's to get paperwork done. Somehow along the way, Themed Friday's began. Sometimes they popped a porn flick in the video, etc. He was EXTREMELY well liked in his region and with his clients.

After bonuses were paid, one assistant discovered she did not get as much as the others. She filed a complaint with Human Resources in sTL claiming discrimination. They told her it was his choice how much to pay. She hired an attorney who said she could get more in Sexual harrassment but she needed proof. When he left the yellow post-it notes on their desks Thursday he signed his name. She filed a lawsuit.

STL had to settle with her out of court but she had to sign a gag order. According to the GP  telling the story, Jones had 'no choice' but to force his resignation as there is a zero tolerance policy on this.

Again, I did not bring this up to bash him. Why this was discussed at a dinner meeting, I have no idea. I wanted to point out that not all at Jones are pious, penniless poppers.

Jones was sorry to lose him. That was my take.

apppreciate your comments but the way I read it is that Jones is discriminating against peoples life styles. Folks that aren't married can't enjoy the benefits that the married ones can, hell I recall when Bachman was sporting his assistant. They have double standards, just another reason why they are so hated by former EMPLOYEES.

These are known as Jones Urban Tales. They are stories that are told by GP's for the PURPOSE of :

a) Demonstrating a Lesson;

b) Giving an example of cause and effect;

c) a way to control the masses.

The stories have a BASIS of truth, but are retold by the General Partners in a way that indicates they are 'taking you into their confidence' and want you to know what can happen if you... etc, blah blah blah.

But as I have said before and others before me. They absolutely DO keep a very accurate record of each persons' comings and goings'.

Having escaped and being extremely happy about it, I have to admit my girlfriend (s) always made it to Jones regionals and hid in the room, because I would have been fired.  OK I feel saved now.  Maybe Bachmann could have brought his girlfriend also.

They do talk out of both sides of their mouth, it seems.  I had a rep I know who was planning on going on a trip where they could bring one guest (ie., a spouse).  His spouse was unable to attend, so he planned on bringing his eldest son who was 13 or 14, something like that.  The company said that spouses were only allowed to attend.  A little weird from my perspective for such a great family organization.

for the Geeps? Seems to me he HELPED it if Hartford PAID MORE?

THE ANSWER TO THAT QUESTION WAS THE BROKER WAS RECIEVING MORE FROM HARTFORD NOT THE GPS. HARTFORD DIDNT PLAY THE EXTORSION GAME AS WELL AS JONES  WANTED. HARTFORD WANTED TO PAY THE PEOPLE WHOM  WERE DOING THE WORK. NOT THE FAT CAT GP`S .

sharing to the rep..." and was carrying his P&L around showing how it
impacted his personal income. Hartford and I think Van Kampen pay more
UPFRONT in gross then the IR gets their cut. But, it used to be that an IR
also got a smidge of the Revenue sharing credited back on their P&L
based on the dollar amount held in the particular fund. That becomes
important -EXTREMELY important to the individual IR as their profit
number is the basis for Bonus AND Partnership offerings.

You see, if the Top Producer in the firm goes on the road with this type
of information- and TRUST ME it was NEVER TAUGHT in STL just how all
this came together...American funds was in trouble losing their number
one spot. They applied pressure to the jeeps in STL who in turn used the
first opportunity to show the left foot of fellowship out the door- and
ruin his reputation lest anyone begin to think he was on to something.
Which he was. And by showing the individual IR how to get a little bigger
piece of the pie for himself it spells disaster for those in control.

After Revenue Sharing became known to all, EDJ had to change the way
they pay- it became a percentage of all money held in all mutual funds-
and you should have seen the backlash of the veterans who knew they
were now getting screwed out money they felt they rightfully earned by
filling up the tanks of the funds who paid more on their P&L.
