Windy and Ron 14

Jun 16, 2009 4:50 pm

OK kids, enough is enough.  You two sound like a couple of girls (no offense to girls).

The Windy threads were funny for a little while, and Ron's constant negativity is not funny enough to be worth reading.  Bottom line, you guys are now just taking up space.   So unless you can bring some actual amusement to the board, rather than just verbal spitballs (actually, adults literally hitting each other with spitballs would be funny), take the drivel either to PM's or your own little thread the everyone else can ignore.

My constant negativity?  You created a new topic yesterday titled "Scary."

Jun 16, 2009 6:03 pm

You’re right.  Except that it wasn’t directed at a person or a firm.  I was referring to the market.

This thread was talking about the constant negativity towards Windy and Jones in general.  I'm all for people posting bullish or bearish views of the market.   Negativity would have been me posting a picture of Ron14 with the title "Scary".
Jun 16, 2009 6:06 pm

I have only ripped Jones and Windy. I have also defended Jones, but you are a selective reader. You can defend Windy all you want and you better because he is on pace to become an LP before you. Maybe I will just change my screen name like Haaic/Alice Cooper. Would that be ok with you, Sir ?

Jun 16, 2009 6:18 pm

Not a selective reader, I just don’t read all your posts.  I don’t defend Windy, it’s just getting old.  And you can do it all you want - Windy’s a big boy (and I could care less actually) - just don’t hijack every normal thread and turn it into a Windy bash so we have to wade through the crap to get back on topic (or actually read something funny ).

Not a selective reader, you just don’t read all of my posts ? Doesn’t that define selective ? You could care less if I rip Windy ? It doesn’t seem that way. These “serious threads” I hijack, are you referring to the 57 threads a day about starting at Jones ? Give me a break.

Jun 16, 2009 9:02 pm

Ron, I agree.  I don’t know where these guys are coming out of the woodwork from, all of a sudden.

No, I am not a selective reader with regards to YOUR posts.  I am selective about the posts I read in general.  The world don't revolve around Ron 14.   And no, I don't care if you rip Windy.  At all.  Just don't hijack perfectly good threads to go on for three pages with Windy.  And for the record, the original post was aimed at both of you, not just you.   I think you have your tights in a wad now.
Jun 16, 2009 9:11 pm

B24 -I know exactly where all of these guys are coming from. You are annoyed at my ripping on Windy and so am I because it is a waste of time. Gaddock doesn't believe I was an options trader for almost 10 years and wants to fight with me because I don't agree with discretionary options trading with clients retirement money. Spiff is pissed because I called him out for making comments about a guy who left Jones.

Jun 16, 2009 11:49 pm

Wow, somebody is officially owned.

I was referring to the "57 threads a day about starting at Jones ".  For the past month, like 2 "new" posters a day have inquired about Jones.  It's complete nonsense.  I've been on here for like 3 years, and there are more newbies in the past 30 days than in the past 3 years.  And they are all completely bogus stories.  Either that or this site attracts some major losers (uh oh!), because the people claiming to be interviewing with Jones certainly don't work in my region.

Depends, did Ron and his bank buddy slam her life savings into an annuity like they did everyone else that would let them?
Actually, I don't have the patience or desire to know (or care) who is posing.  I just think it's stupid.  We have like 65 FA's in my region, and I knew most of them pretty well by now.  I could count on one hand the number of "recent college grads" that we have hired.  The vast majority of them are between the ages of 35 and 55.  And the only one that I know of that is under 26 is actually doing quite well. Even most of the "newbies" are 2nd-career people or transfer brokers.  And almost none of them are starting from scratch.  None are working out of their houses.

Wind - This is a serious question. Does the legacy last until you get an office or do you have to stay for a certain period of time ?

Jun 17, 2009 1:58 pm

yes.

yes.   Usually runs till you get your office.  Typically they give you a broad time horizon, i.e. 12 months.  You'll be in your office before that though.  A guy in my region did one for 3 months.
Jun 17, 2009 2:24 pm

Thanks. That is a great program by Jones for the new guys.

Jun 17, 2009 4:44 pm
"So technically you could be in a legacy for almost 2 years by the time your office is open. So whatever you do, DON'T SIGN THE EXTENTION."   Ha Ha!  Windy, you're learning!  I am hosting a legacy FA that started new/new out of his house.  They actually started his office search early (he was kicking arse), but could not land a deal.  So after about 9 months of searching, I offered him to come in with me (I have a  kick-arse office).  So he was in his house about, I don't know 21 months or so before moving in with me.  He's been with me about 8 months now.  We declined the extension because the further you move along, the harder it is to hit the bogie to do the office search.  He is now like in month 30 or something, and his hurdle is like 9K 4-month average (I am just estimating) to qualify for an office.  So he is now struggling to hit that.  So he will likely be with me until he hits it or gets booted (I think he is doing well enough to stay, but just missing the bogie).   So the key is, hit it hard and hit it early.  You have to get into that office.
Jun 17, 2009 7:13 pm
Have you tried just going to all the nearest Jones offices and asking for a legacy. Thats what I did to get out of my house.
Closest office is about 25-30 mins. away.  I can use one and might start doing it more often.  Finding it tough to get motivated sitting at home in shorts, t-shirt, and no wife around to stop me from watching random porn.

B24 - Do yourself a favor and look at Windy latest posts. I can't believe you lump me in with him. It is unreal.

Oct 17, 2009 11:05 pm

B24 - Where are you now to police the constant bickering back and forth between Windy and Jones guys ?

Oct 18, 2009 12:11 am

You act as though, you aren’t in on it. Asshole

Oct 18, 2009 2:55 am

Well, I can’t be “in on it” because I am not a Jones guy. I am not saying I don’t rip on you. What I am saying is most of the recent bashing has come from Jones guys, but B24 doesn’t rip them for doing it or “hijacking threads.”

Oct 18, 2009 2:25 pm

Honestly, I have sort of lost interest in the Windy thing. It got old, so I generally don’t even read them anymore. Windy has become such a child with his posts, that it’s not even really worth posting - it’s not even like talking to an adult. The only reason I even read this one is because I saw that it was a thread I had started, so I was curious.

Oct 18, 2009 3:43 pm

I’ve become a child? I’m pretty sure most of the gay jokes and lame ass comments are towards me. I just joined in.

Oct 18, 2009 4:24 pm

Does it matter?  This is a jack off forum.  Be whoever you want.

Oct 18, 2009 6:14 pm

Ice, I seem to recall a tag line you had posted for a rival forum?  Glass houses brother, glass houses. When you “old timers” celebrate a guy like Bobby being a jerk you got just what you asked for. A bunch of people that were not going to be punked.

I’d prefer to use it as a resource, that’s what I came here for and still do to some extent.  However it’s a never ending Jones bash, windy bash fest (i contribute to that), and a basic cluster of morons hijacking your threads with agendas.

Oct 18, 2009 6:33 pm
Volt,

This forum used to be one he|| of a resource.  It's been more bullsh|t lately than I can ever remember.  It's a shame.  Maybe if some of you would quit acting like children so often, we could actually get back to business and help each other make more money.   Nothing wrong with joking around, or ragging on people that deserve it.  But seriously.  Ridiculous lately - maybe too many newer members just view this place as a "jack off forum."  Shame.
Ahhh the good old days.  Problem is nowadays there are two many newbs asking questions who don't like the answers and too many morons that just post nonsense for the sake of posting.
Oct 18, 2009 6:37 pm

Care to tell us what your old screen name was before you got banned, Jebediah? Since you appear to the the “newb” by your joined date.

Ronnie Dobbs:

I’ve become a child?

Yes.

And it's not the jokes and bashing itself that I am losing interest in. It's the fact that some of the good threads get absolutely hijacked and spun in ridiculous directions. If people want to participate in that, I don't care.   I am all for the quick one-liners that we get each other with. That's the beauty of this place - we don't need to worry about offending someone at the water-cooler, we get to talk business, and give each other some sh!t during work. I'm not prude, I just don't have time to wade through pages and pages of it to get back on topic. So I prefer the extended, Windy-bashing, I-slept-with-your-mama, "you swallow" threads to stick to their topic, and the real topics to stay on topic.

One minute, we have a perfectly good thread, and the next thing you know, Wind is posting about his 35K gross in month 4 and how everyone else can kiss his a$$. And then all he!! breaks loose. 28 pages of gay fart jokes later, we finally get back on topic.
Oct 18, 2009 6:55 pm

For what it’s worth, I think it would be challenging to create a forum like this where you are going to have a majority be about business. There are a finite number of business discussions that would be useful to discuss on a forum like this, and an infinite number of ways for relatively smart, motivated, competitive men (mostly) to rib each other.

I think this forum is as helpful as it could be.

Oct 18, 2009 7:03 pm

I have no idea what I’m talking about?  Really? You want to claim a moral high ground and then say a guy that outs people as a matter of protocol is a swell guy … if only we got to know him huh?

I love reading your posts and am using Bobby/Hank and his thousand other screen names as an example.  I like his advice “sell people what they want” however in the past he was a total jerk.  You guys might worship that crap but it brings down an online community. People living in fear of being outed by him.  RR banning him weekly for being a jerk. You utilizing this site as an advertising platform for his site ruins your ability to preach to other about how to act.

You can’t have it both ways…

iceco1d:

Let me add something else -

I’m not claiming a “moral high ground.”  I’ve had my share of spats on here.  I’ve made my share of off color comments.

I’m also not claiming I have a right to “preach” to you, or anyone else.  In fact, I’m not specifically calling you, or anyone else out, with these posts.

I’m simply stating the fact, that this forum has changed, and in my opinion, for the worse.  The regular posters of the past, that contributed threads like “The 500 Day War,” are very scarce lately.  I don’t doubt that the fact that this forum is riddled with “fart jokes” and “yo momma” cracks, more than anyting else, is a primary reason.

So if YOU have appreciated any of the info you’ve gained here, and anyone else, perhaps we could all put a little bit more effort into being less childish, more helpful, you get the point.

...Great post, I actually started on this site about two years ago, while still in the interviewing process, and I can vouch for that fact. This site has changed tremendously over the past 6-8 mos. A jab in fun here or there is all in fun, but to demoralize an individual as we put ourselves out to be "financial professionals" doesnt exactly exude professionalism in my opinion. I personally try to avoid offending anyone, and come here seeking advice or new ideas from those with more tenure in the business. Hope all would take this into consideration and perhaps we can move forward without the bashing. DC
Oct 18, 2009 10:26 pm

Personally, I like the debates. I also like the fact that guys like Ron, HKA, Sometimes and Still can poke fun at themselves.

I also like giving the pikers who post hell. And I will use every gay reference and mom joke that I can think of while owning them.

My only issue with Wind - who is a big producer - especially for a new guy, is for someone doing that much business, he’s doesn’t know enough.

As for Wind on the forums - he’s just too damn defensive. And there are people on here who could brag about any number of things, but they don’t.

You guys can keep your love for Bobby/HAAIC whatever the hell his screen name is. That guy is a straight up douche bag. He was threatening me via PM a year ago when I was hardly even participating on this site. I have posted my exact career path and my actual month by month numbers from Jones and this d*** wants to start a fight with his keyboard just because I work at a bank.

As for the other stuff I agree that I have added to the irrelevant commentary on this site and I am done playing those games. I have been able to learn a lot from guys on this site and I want to keep it that way. I have also been asked numerous questions about being a "licensed teller" via PM and I feel I am helping others also. I apologize for wasting the time of those of you who are here for business and not to jack around.
