Experienced planner/series 7 problem

Hi, I am a portfolio manager/wealth planner and CFP for a large bank's wealth management arm. I have been in the industry for about 7 years now but may soon be moving to a different city, hence looking at job opportunities. Since working under the banking umbrella does not require me to be series 7 licensed, my employer does not offer sponsorship. This has left me thinking I may have a tough time joining a new firm/company as so many want you to be licensed just to get an opportunity.
Anyone have any thoughts on this topic? I have never seen such a catch 22 like this..
