EDJ BOA to FA?

I've been with Jones for over a decade.  I've gone as far as I can as a BOA. I love my job, but over the last year or so I find myself feeling like there is something missing. I find myself getting insanely jealous over FA only perks, knowing I do just as much of the work.

So... I'm considering leaving my position as Sr BOA, and becomming an FA.  I know what it takes to be successful, but what holds me back is:

1- Doorknocking.  I'm a woman, I just don't think this is safe, and it scares the hell outta me.

2- What if I fail?  I can't very well come back as a BOA after that, what then?

What I'd really love is to hear from people who went from one position to the other.  The real stuff, not the stuff we tell people to get them hired.
