Advice for Those Interviewing with Jones
You have probably read all kinds of posts with all kinds of opinions about Edward Jones, both good and bad. Here's the deal; IT'S YOUR DECISION!, but you must go into it with your eyes wide open. Don't just believe the smoke the RL blows up your skirt, check out everything for yourself. Go meet several IRs in your area. Try to talk to many different year groups. Ask the hard questions like: "Are you making as much as you expected to be making at this point in your career?" or "Have you ever considered leaving Jones and why?"
You have to take responsibility for your decisions. I was responsible for being hired by Jones and I'm thankful for the opportunity and the training. I'm also thankful that I left and I'm now truly my own boss and I truly have ownership of my business. Would I do it that way again? I'm not sure. I probably would think about it longer than I did when I accepted the Jone's offer.
Eyes wide open with no rose colored glasses. Be prepared to work hard wherever you go, and don't blame anyone for the decision YOU make.

You have a big corncob up your butt, because we're not has beens, but if you stay at Jones with your attitude, you will be. For your info, if we were has beens, we wouldn't be making twice or more the money that we were making at Jones. And I'm having a lot of fun recruiting my Jones buddies away from Jones. That should open up your town for you to do more business.

Classic Edward Jones attitude. And people ask why us "ex-Jones" guys have such strong opinions towards the cult...

What Borked Boy was really trying to say is that he just can't take it any more. We shouldn't say anything about the cult because it might upset him, even if it wass somewhat positive.I think the point he is trying to make is that this is about the eleventy kabillionth time that someone has posted something similar to what you wrote. And, it's like the same group of 5 or 6 people posting it over and over and over again. It's not that you are not entitled to your opinion, or even that you are wrong. The point is that nobody asked, it was unprovoked, and it has been beaten like eleventy kabillion dead horses.
You curse people who ask about interviewing with Jones (go look in the Search Box!), but then you offer your opinion when nobody asks. It just doesn't make much sense.
The opinion of Jones on this forum is no hidden secret. But at least wait a few months between each rant to allow some fresh new members to join so the same people don't need to hear it every week.
Or keep doing it.

#3 I love eleventy kabillionth. It's so powerful in making a point.
#4 There was nothing provoking about my post. Telling people to look at all of the facts and gather as much information as you can before you make a decision is not provoking. But then again, I forgot that Jones IRs don't want you to know everything. Then you might doubt that the bond you're being forced to call on during a calling session in St Louis is really good for your client even though it's a tax free bond for a state that your client doesn't live in. Oh well, forget the specifics! JUST CALL!!
