I’m thinking about a career in the financial world.  Does anybody have any advice?

Wow!!!  I get to write an essay on my most favorite topic in the world!  I can't wait!  I'm so excited I think I just peed in my pants!  I think I'll go home and write it out with a new #2 pencil, just so I can make sure I get it right!

Who is Edward Jones?  Is he a broker you are thinking about interning for?

Oh wait, I think I know what you are talking about. Check with your local Wal-Mart, I think they are hiring reps soon...

Thanks for the insight that really helped, but a really long essay would still be appreciated!

Apparently, Edward Jones works in my town!  A woman I spoke to mentioned that he came to her house and knocked on her door (seriously).  You must be near here NEWBY.  Come by my office and we’ll talk.  You must be changing jobs huh?  Bring by your 401k statement and I’ll show you some American funds to put it in.

Edward Jones was a mendonite, who felt the need to peddle things.  He decided to peddle paper, bond paper.  He sold this to other uneducated mendonites, and thus started the first network marketing firm.  He was very successful in this new distribution method.  As his downline grew, he brought in others to help develop the distribution network.  He had his people drive around in vehicles that looked like milk trucks.  Mendonites raise milk cows…and it was appropriate. The newly minted owners would drive around and knock on the barn doors and sell their wares to others.  The unsuspecting mendonites would buy if they had money available, and margin if they didn’t.  Ed Jones was a great success, and Newby you should join the downline, so you to can sell door to door.

Bteam, when you are buying those American Funds, make sure to invest just right to miss the breakpoints.  I mean if we are really going to invest like Edward, might as well go full out.

You can do your own damn research.  (I'll give you a hint - it's called the "SEARCH" button.)

I usually don't take the time to post anything but after reading this I have to say it:

Are you kidding me?! Write YOU an essay?! Who do you think you are?

Let me tell you something buddy, Most of the guys here and I worked our butt off to get where we are (and I am speaking in assumption that most of the guys here have good books). And the one thing you need to do is rely on yourself. You want something? YOU GO FIND IT! There is no friendly players here. This is a business where the the winner gets all the money and the losers get the foodstamps, you get me?

You want an essay? Be a english teacher!

Ummm...BankerBuddy, I think NEWBY was just joking with his post and we all were going along for the ride to poke fun of E.J., but take it as you wish.  Hang on...there is someone at my door.  Nevermind, just a Jones rep asking if I wanted some A shares of American Funds Growth Fund, he seems to think it will be a good hold for 1 year, then we'll find something else!

Love the sarcasm!

Edward "Too Tall" Jones was always in the shadows of his more famous siblings, Dr. Indiana and Cathrine Zeta.
