63 vs. 66
Does anyone know if you already have your 63 can you take the 66 or do you have to take the 65? I’ve heard the 66 has a lot of the material that the 63 does, so the NASD will make you take the 65 UNLESS you’ve taken the 63 within a certain timespan.
I may be wrong but I believe the 63 + 65 = 66. Not absolutely sure of that though.

Nope. Series 66 plus Series 7 is equivalent to the 65.
The series 66 is much much easier that the 65...but combined with the series 7 is overall more challenging.

Series 63- Uniform Securities Agent State Law Exam
Series 65- Uniform Investment Advisor Exam
Series 66- Uniform Combined State Law** (equivalent of S-63 plus S-65) ** Series 7 is a prerequisite to the S-66. S-66 is equivalent of S-63 plus S-65
I just passed the 66 yesterday. I came to LPL from Jones, and already had my 63 and 7. I was going to take the 65 until someone told me the 66 was easier. If you already have your 7, take the 66. Otherwise, I would probably take the 65.
I would recommend STC's On-Demand lecture for the 66. It's $75, and takes about 3 to 4 hours to watch, but you can use it as much as you want for 15 days. It didn't cover EVERYTHING on the 66, but that's pretty much all I used to study and I got a 77%.

Thanks for elaborating....bottom line is that if you get your series 7 and your series 66, you will have the equivalent of a series 65 and can be registered as an investment advisor agent/rep.
As far as the test is concerned, a series 66 is much much easier than than the 65 and the 63 combined...even though I've never taken the 63, I believe that the 66 is about as difficult as the 63. The 65 is (from my understanding) more comparable to the series 7 from a difficulty standpoint.
