1st Seminar

Jun 5, 2009 12:08 am

I opted to run a Women and investing seminar.

Here is my marketing plan:

100 Hallmark invitations
100 Jones Flyers
Inform the local ladies group
Call everyone that was sent a Hallmark card 2 weeks prior
Confirmation calls 48 hrs before

Any suggestions?  Missing anything?

Mention the seminar to everybody you DK. Broker24 had a good suggestion that when you DK people you can say: From time to time I host seminars on investment topics; do you mind if I let you know when we’re doing the next one. (Or some such language.) I think people are more willing to say yes to that than they are to getting called on an investment idea.

Also, in your phone calls, say to people, I’m calling for two quick reasons. Reason No. 1: investment or whatever you’re doing that day.  Reason No. 2, the seminar.

Oh, call your friends and invite them to bring their moms or grandmoms. At the very least, you want to fill the room.

Yes, invite Wind and have him speak

Thanks for the feedback, good ideas!  Windy will you come and talk to them about fishing?

I have done several women’s seminars. They love them. Women just love getting together and thinking the focus is on them. Just be careful how you deliver it. It needs to be light and fun…but not condescending.

Well he has all of the answers so I figure he would close all of them on the spot!

In all seriousness, you have to have at least 10 people there. If this is your first seminar I would have 5 standbys (friends, family) that you can bring in if only a few people show up. It is tough to tell how many people will come, especially in the summer months.

100 invitations seems kind of low to me unless you’ve tested it and had a high response rate…

What do the hallmark invitations look like, are they greeting cards? Do you plan on handwriting the invitation?

200 invitations - 100 flyers, 100 hallmark cards.  The flyers are invitations which i just placed in a standard envelope.  I sent the hallmark cards to people I felt were better prospects.

They are pre-printed greeting cards, they look pretty nice.  I don’t expect people to flood my phone with calls next week but think I can pick up some action with the calls buyandhold suggested.  I’ve already got 3 people confirmed so just 17 more to go.  I’ll post updates!

I see some embarrassment in your future. I hope I’m wrong, but I don’t think so.

Thanks dad

just knock on everyone’s door the morning of the seminar and tell them the bus is waiting.

Place an announcement in the local paper, they’ll do it for free. (Don’t forget the RSVP ).

Also, contact the local womens clubs and Zonda groups to offer your services as a speaker at their monthly meetings.   I've had success with both strategies doing the financial planning for women workshops.     Good luck, Stok

The key is to follow up with EVERYONE who you sent an invitation to.  Your BOA can do it if you don't want to.  Write a script for her and tell her to call all of the folks on the LMGR list that she used to send out the invitation.  I just did one of those a little while ago.  What I learned is that women like to attend things in groups.  If you can get one woman to confirm, she'll more than likely bring a friend or two.

If you're going to partner with a wholesaler, Oppenheimer and Goldman have Women and Investing seminars ready to go.    The Jones material is really long especially if the wholesaler speaks too.  Don't be afraid to cut some of it out.

Spiff is right. Hartford also has a Women and Investing seminar and some pretty nice invitations. I have done used them before for a seminar. I normally have door prizes to give away… EDJ Tote bag, Hartford tote, Champange, Mani-pedi… I have my assistant placed some chocolate on the tables…

All the best- Miss J

Manicure Pedicure. Women love them![/quote]   Ahhh, it all makes sense now.  Reminds me of when I used to work in Manhattan and all my "Metrosexual" guy friends used to get manicures (like Voltmoi).  Made me just want to kick 'em in the nuts.  Seriously.  These are the same sissy-boys that ordered $15 fruity-martinis while I drank a can of Fosters at "clubs".  But they were fun to pick on.  Sort of miss those days.  Now I live out in the 'burbs where men are men (even if most of us drive mini-vans on weekends )

B - We had a four day pass when I was in Iraq to Qatar. Nice little resort, with the spa treatment, state-of-the-art work out facilities, a Chili’s and the requisite two beer ticket limit.

I came out from getting my massage, and a tough-as-nails, grizzled up E5 (been demoted so many times for insubordination), was wearing a robe, receiving a “mani-pedi” with some kind of cream on his face. He made it ok for men to get manicures and pedicures, just so you know.

And I have the utmost respect for your opinion on the industry, but your taste in beer - horrible! You can get your ass kicked in Austrailia for ordering one of those.

Jun 5, 2009 5:59 pm
Yeah, I've heard all the excuses for why mean get that crap done to themselves. The only person that paints my nails is my 4 year-old little girl (I'm softer than sh** with her).   You stick to your mani-pedi's, I'll take care of the beer (I suppose you're the type that thinks Guiness and Beamish are too "heavy", right?).
Jun 5, 2009 6:40 pm

Actually no, I like Guiness.

Just as far as Aussie beers go, if you aren’t drinking Cooper’s, it’s likely that no matter how much you avoid manicures, you’d still be gay.
