Titles for Advisors
Hi All! Thanks for all of the input thus far…We are adding a new advisor to our team. Do you mind sharing some of the titles you use in your practice? Investment Advisor Representative is a little dry and they aren’t quite VP level.

titles are for one’s personal vanity. Wasn’t just about everyone a VP for the business card?
I’ve seen associate VP, Director, associate director, assoc parter. If he didn’t have a title before, give him an assoc VP and he will be happy as a clam.
I joined a team atmosphere and they gave me Asst Vice President… Title was unimpressive to me but some clients think it is a major deal…

Just kidding. I think AVP is a bit pretentious before the company has at least 50 people. AVP is effectively the equivalent of 2nd Lieutenant or Lieutenant, Junior Grade in the services. This suggests that they would have at least 10-20 or so people that they outranked in the organization. I think simply, "Associate" or "Associate Partner" would be appropriate. The term indicates professional, but indicates that they're junior to someone else and not a principal. Just my two cents...CCBW always looks nice.
In all seriousness, though, Associate Vice President, Divisional Vice President etc. should do it.
