Sales Asistants

Apr 16, 2010 12:29 am
Do any of you Indies have a part time assistant in a major metro area and surrounding burbs? I'm trying to find out what is the going rate of pay for a Sales Assistant that works say, 15 hours a week - Registered or Unregistered.

Also, any of you have an Assistant and are in an Executive Suite arrangement? If so, how do you handle the space issue? Do you rent another office for them? or squeeze them into your office?

I need some direction, i am starting to struggle, spending too much time on this crap

HELP!

If your production is falling off because you can't handle the admin.. I think you answered you own question...

Take into account all things..

Increased office space, asst pay, training the asst..........but if it leads to increase production to cover that then it is worth it.

I can't help you with this question, but I do know of a guy that is the CEO of his car.  He might be able to help.

I was in a an execu suite last week and the first door in, nice big corner office, was an investment advisor and he did have an assistant's desk in the corner and she was working while he was running a client appointment.  I do not know anything else about it, other than to me as an outsider it looked weird, but maybe to the client it was normal and just fine.

Going rate is 15-17ish an hour.  Of course, skill set, location and all the other factors play in.  You should be able to go into payscale.com and get an idea.

Good luck.

Thanks Roxie.

Its not that my production is falling off, its steady to slightly up. My problem is that I'm not growing my assets, which  to me, is the same thing as moving backwasrds. As far as the going rate, i figured about 20 an hour so i was close, since i am in a fairly well to do area outside NYC, its probably about accurate . So the issue becomes space.

I agree it would be too wierd having an asistant in my office. Its not a problem when i have a client or prospect in, because i would just pay for a conference room, they have very professional conf rooms on my floor for $40 an hour.

But its a small office and if we are both on the phone, its too much. Besides, i like to  close the door and blow F-Bombs once in a while and i couldnt do that with an assistant in my office

Hire a part timer for now and use a version of this schedule...

FA:

M-W-F Out of the office

Tu-Th  In the Office

Assistant:

M-W-F In the Office

Tu-Th Off

SFB,

Why not rent two adjoinging small offices, and put a door in? (if possible)  Have the assistant in one, and you in the other.  We have an executive suite space (sort of) in my town, and you can rent them at like $350/unit.  They are small, like 200-250 sq.ft. each, but with two adjoining, it wouldn't be bad.

HAHA!

I've figured out the solution to the space issue, but i am not gonna post it. If you have any interest in what i have decided, and cannot figure out where to find it, PM me. Hint: I don't like to do things twice, when i can do them once.
