Anyone using UITs exclusively for the equity portion of a portfolio(fee based)?

I’ve looked at them.  I just can’t figure out how to work them into my portfolios.  It’s also hard to get good history on them.  I also haven’t spent enough time looking at them.

That and you don't have full access to a good supply of them here at Jones.  Van Kampen is OK, but there are some better ones out there if Jones would open up a bit.

I was looking at First Trust Portfolios. They seem to have good track records once you build some strategies into one giant strategy.

The thing that concerns me is the idea that they launch a new one every quarter(sometimes less). If you add that to the fact they liquidate every 15 months how do they get a track record?

[/quote]   I think there are like 18 VK trusts and 2 First Trust trusts on the equity side.  Not sure on the bond side.

Thnk of it more as buying a portfolio of individual securities, not a mutual fund.  I think you really have to look at it like you are buying the stocks, not the management ability of the investment company (like a fund).
