TV Commercials

My partner and I have been recently toying with the idea of doing a local TV commercial. It would be free to do the actual filming, we would only have to pay for the spots, and the price is really affordable. i was just curious if any of y’all out there have done commercials before to build your business? Is it worth it or is it too cheesy (which is what I think)? What kind of script did you use? Did the general public receive it well? Any input is welcome.

For the record, I think it’s the biggest waste of money imaginable. The only way it makes sense is if you can do targeted demographic spots on specific channels. And it will only work if the message is repeated over and over. So it may seem affordable to do one, but you need to run it over and over and over. That’s why you mainly see only the large B/D’s and banks doing them for the most part. Running a commerical just a few times is like running a newspaper add just a few times.

Unless the ad is a “call to action” (i.e. you have a special CD rate right now), ads ONLY work (in any medium) when they are seen dozens of times. You should do some reading on the internet regarding commerical advertising. You might think twice about dumping money into it.
