Social networking sites are retarded.
Social network sites are more personal, and you need to be professional and only link in with people who want to link with you.
These can drive traffic to your official web site. If you type your name in Google, and your web site is not right on top, you are missing the boat. Maybe not a huge source of business, but after you are established, it is about quality, not quantity.
You are holding yourself out as a professional, a (social) servant of the community. It's about PR, not sales.
